Pastoring a ready-made church

If you can't pastor a 'fresh church'... but are looking for a ready made church - you are probably not called by GOD.

I don't know why most pastors want a ready-made church.

They want a million-member church with musical stuff, sophisticated equipment etc - everything - before they agree to pastor.

You can still pastor an empty church with: 4 members (yourself, your wife, your kid and friend:D), no band yet, electricity challenges, equipment defficiencies etc... If you can do this and survive and grow in every area, then you are truly.....;)

Someone said: I will - only if you give me a sophisticated musical instruments, some devices and equipment and some cash....:dunno :shrug :confused :sad :bigfrown :shame2

I dunno, there's different skill sets involved in building a new group and administering a large existing one. It doesn't seem too farfetched to suggest that God may give different gifts to different people. I've met pastors who are extremely charismatic and can easily build a core group, but lack organizational skills to negotiate building construction, manage finances, or oversee a ministry staff.

Taken to the extreme, if this were the case God would essentially be abandoning every church whose founder had moved on or died. At some point, someone needs to take over. So long as a potential pastor is open to being led by the Holy Spirit to whatever ministry they're called to, I don't see a problem.

Building on the excellent points made here ... perhaps this person has skills/gifts that can be used in an existing church as part of a larger staff. Successful church planting is a call, just as successful church leadership is a call. Some are gifted administrators; others' gift set is evangelism, and so forth.
