Bible Study Paul's Thorn

OK, a genius has emerged! Agua you are the only other individual who has come up with the exact meaning of the thorn. Actually this topic has been discussed before and I had a tough time trying to convince others that it was a demon spirit who continually was responsible of persecutions, hardships, and other tough times. The word messenger is translated, ἄγγελος, aggelos, or ang'-el-os.

Ok Chop easy on mate calling me a genius is like saying a match is a roaring fire :D Yeah it's interesting eh mate and it makes sense that a physical disability wouldn't keep Paul from being haughty imo. I think you're the genius btw and I look up to your instructions.

You must have had a tough crowd there. This stance is pretty dominant on my portion of the continent, and is nowhere near being a new idea. Dont fret Chopp, the work is getting done :)

Northman how would you suggest this evil spirit buffeted Paul ? I mean do you think it was confined to external means ?

Thank you my friend. I guess we'll leave genius stuff to the Lord.

He wasn't married Rebs otherwise it may well have been :biggrin

Oh oh no way really ? good one

My mind is lost in what it heard way back......not suggesting this is fact...Why i am thinking he was married has to do with who/what he was as Saul. I know there is not mention of a wife... We do not know if he was married, widowed or never married do we? The Scriptures do not state one way or the other,,, this is very close...
1Co 7:8 I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I.

All that is true. I heard long ago that the position in the Hebrew system could not be attained unless you were married. If that is true, Paul's wife must have died, and that he spent quite a few years as a widower, and when evaluating the two, believed that the single life far outweighed married life. This would certainly be true of someone who traveled around like Paul did.

Knowing what little i know, id have to say i have no idea on both accounts. What i do know is that the Word reveals that the enemy can get keys to our health, wealth, circumstances, and even the very lives of ours and our loved ones.

Would it be detrimental or beneficial to see either stance as a possibility without clinging to one as an absolute truth? Would it even matter?

No we can't know if he was ever married but the scripture before I think is relevant...

1Co 7:7 For I would that all men were even as I myself. But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that.

How can Satan get the keys to ur health, wealth and circumstances?

I was taught by Brother Richard Clark, before he went to the field in Israel that one could not be on the Sanhedrin except he was married. I've never dug deeply into this in my study of traditions and customs but Bro. Clark was very sharp on these matters and tend to believe he is right. Jason, I believe, should now the answer -on this one.
