Since the Christmas season is among us I have a wonderful idea. Jesus was a gift of love given to us straight from Heaven even though we were undeserving of it. Salvation is a free gift and all we have to do in return to be able to have it guaranteed to us is accept it. I think that proves without a shadow of a doubt that it doesn't take much to give something to somebody else who is less fortunate than us and may or may not deserve it.

That's why I think that this year everybody on this forum should find a way to give back to your community in some way, shape, or form. Whether it's donating food to your church, shelter, etc. or donating clothes and or children's toys, or even putting a dollar towards Salvation Army. Whatever you choose to do this is the place to share your stories and I will be sharing mine as well once I have made up my mind. What do you think are you guys with me in spreading the love and generosity of Christ throughout the world and putting the Christ back in Christmas?

As God continues to bless hubby and I we take those blessings and bless others. We do not buy each other gifts for Christmas as we buy what we need throughout the year so instead we give to different charities, not only at Christmas, but throughout the year. We love paying it forward as God expects us to do in all charity.

Just as only a surfer knows the feeling only a giver knows the blessing. People can take all day but until they give they will never feel satisfied, more take trying to find happiness.

Amen to both of those statements. :amen

It's just a balance in life. Give and Take. Without a balance you either give everything you have and your broke as a joke or be a scrooge and never be satisfied.

Someone might try pull a Matthew 19:21 on me becauase they don't understand what Jesus was doing.

IMO the lesson in Matthew 19:21 was not so much Jesus telling this rich man to sell everything, give to the poor and follow Him, but that one would be willing to do such a thing as putting others above yourself in charity. One who keeps all their worldly possessions, ignoring those in need will not enter the kingdom of heaven as they are selfish.

Abraham belived God and was credited with righteousness, and he was loaded.

Giving back to your community is an "of course" thingy.
Nothing has more hubris than doing nothing while complaining about them.
Besides, when disaster happens I'm usually "boots on the ground" fixing things so people can get back to work.

But in the meantime I spread Christmas cheer everywhere.

I did ask a few weeks back if the volunteer fire fighters get anything from the community for Christmas and apparently they do because I wanted to do something for them. Because I was thinking they deserve a good gift because the siren went off at 3am and I was comfortable in bed and a few mins later the truck went past. Who willingly gets out of bed at 3am and goes out of there way to help others. Thank a firefighter today.
