Planning already for Valentines

Okay so it's time already to start planning for Valentines.

For a list of possible gifts for a Valentine wife, I got the following ideas which are presumably high up a husband's list of what is popular with ladies:

flowers
chocolates
stiletto heels
earrings and other jewelry
....

Although my wife has had all these from me, what other ideas can you folks think of? Any more suggestions?

Well that's good if she likes those sorts of things and there's certainly nothing wrong with that, but really as you know the woman and we don't you really should know thing kind of things she's interested in and enjoys doing way better than any of us could.

Because a small gift of something above the commercial stuff of valentines that shows your thinking specifically of her when you got it would make her feel that little bit more loved :)

I never do. To me, it is a candymaker and cardmaker's dream.

i wonder if there are some christians that dont celebrate valentines these days.

J:

I guess many earringed, stiletto heeled, flower-loving, chocolate eating wives (see list, above) do celebrate it.... :)

So, any more suggestions for the possible gift list, folks?

i do but not because of candy etc but as that is a special thing to do with my wife, but we married couples should do that more often.

besides cupid and eros and aprophodite having nothing in common with christ.

I can't wear heels, don't wear much jewerly and chocolate gives me headaches.

But...I truly wish my hubby would understand about flowers. I love fresh cut flowers. It doesn't have to be an expensive dozen roses, just some nice fresh flowers. For some reason, he just doesn't get it and after amost 13 years of marriage, I guess he probably never will. :sad

I once got my hubby a new pitchfork for Valentine's Day. He loved it! He's that kind of guy.

farouk, what about a nice cute pyjama set...or nightie! Or a bottle of nice massage oil and the promise of frequent back/shoulder/feet rubs!

Just keep in mind that Valentines Day is all about romance...no "practical" gifts (like a new pitchfork, but then I got him that because I knew it was something he would truly love.)

So, if she really needs a new blender, go out an buy her one...just not on Valentine's Day.

only a farmer would like a pitchfork for a gift, lol.

Valentine's Day is one week before our wedding anniversary, and often it gets overlooked. And, that's really OK with me. When we first got married, it was important that Steve come through on Valentine's Day with a little something, but now it's often forgotten. I have to admit...I love it when he comes through with something, but if he forgets about it, or combines it with our anniversary, that's OK.

Jason, Steve would be an example of a Christian who doesn't really celebrate Valentine's Day...he always tells me not to bother getting anything for him. I usually get him a soppy romantic card, and he likes it. He'll get me a card too, but sometimes he forgets to give it to me. I can't tell you how often he will remember to give me the V-Day card on our anniversary. He always remembers the anniversary!

...still wish he'd get me flowers though. Doesn't even have to be Valentine's Day...flowers would be nice.

well poke him with that pitchfork to remind him.

:lol Yeah, maybe that'll work. I was kvetching about flowers once, and he picked some dandelions for me. I almost did poke him with something for that one! :grumpy :p

He just has this thing about spending money on something that grows all around us. But, they don't grow in the winter when V-Day is, and usually the wild flowers die off very quickly once picked. Some nice cut flowers from a florist usually lasts for quite some time in a vase, rather than picked wildflowers that wilt and get messy after just a day.

Thanks for the suggestions...

Sorry you can't wear heels but my wife is still okay with some of them.

Alabster:

So you're not particularly into any of the list so far?

"flowers
chocolates
stiletto heels
earrings and other jewelry"

Any further suggestions for the list, maybe?

PS: Handy, thanks for your ideas.....
