Muslims Protest Against Church Construction in Cilegon
The Mayor of Cilegon Helldy Agustian along with the Deputy Mayor of Cilegon, Sanuji Pentamarta signed the petition rejecting the church's establishment.
Among the Muslim community, led by KH Tb Fathul Adzim Chotib led the Islamic community to reject the establishment of any place of worship that was not Islamic (including churches).
Currently in Cilegon City there is no church, so Catholics and Christians who want to worship must go to other areas.
Although Indonesia recognizes 5 religions (Islam, Christianity, Catholicism, Buddhism and Hinduism), not all regions allow non-Muslim communities to establish places of worship (churches or temples).
