Are there any police officers in this forums?

Interesting job, does that fit to a christian?

I would think the One who stated "administer true justice" understands the importance in law enforcement. Otherwise you have lawlessness. That doesn't speak to agreement with all the laws man makes.

Cornelius was a Roman Centurion. (soldier) So ones job in itself doesn't speak to ones righteousness. (Loving one another is Gods command)

A Police officer is a servant and agent of the state/King to carry out the will of the state/King in the lives of the citizen/subjects.

when paul wrote that, it was in the days of a most corrupt government.

I agree with you. Looks like God was pretty clear about His judicial and court system. Some of the 613 Laws

  1. To appoint judges and officers in every community of Israel (Deut. 16:18) (affirmative).
  2. Not to appoint as a judge, a person who is not well versed in the laws of the Torah, even if he is expert in other branches of knowledge (Deut. 1:17) (CCN64).
  3. To adjudicate cases of purchase and sale (Lev. 25:14) (CCA67).
  4. To judge cases of liability of a paid depositary (Ex. 22:9) (affirmative).
  5. To adjudicate cases of loss for which a gratuitous borrower is liable (Ex. 22:13-14) (affirmative).
  6. To adjudicate cases of inheritances (Num. 27:8-11) (CCA73).

  9. To adjudicate cases of damage caused by trespass of cattle (Ex. 22:4) (affirmative).
  10. To adjudicate cases of damage caused by fire (Ex. 22:5) (affirmative).
  11. To adjudicate cases of damage caused by a gratuitous depositary (Ex. 22:6-7) (affirmative).
  12. To adjudicate other cases between a plaintiff and a defendant (Ex. 22:8) (affirmative).
  13. Not to curse a judge (Ex. 22:27) (CCN63).
  14. That one who possesses evidence shall testify in Court (Lev. 5:1) (affirmative).

  19. Not to hear one of the parties to a suit in the absence of the other party (Ex. 23:1) (CCN65).
  20. To examine witnesses thoroughly (Deut. 13:15) (affirmative).
  21. Not to decide a case on the evidence of a single witness (Deut. 19:15) (CCN73).

  35. To accept the rulings of every Supreme Court in Israel (Deut. 17:11) (affirmative).
  36. Not to rebel against the orders of the Court (Deut. 17:11) (CCN158).

I've considered it and am considering it still as a career change.

A Police officer is a servant and agent of the state/King to carry out the will of the state/King in the lives of the citizen/subjects.

And in turn, the state/King is a minister of God for our own good. Romans 13:3-4

Not always....one day they will be ministers of persecution and death on behalf of their new King.

At the time Paul wrote this, most viewed the Romans as ministers of persecution and death on behalf of their emperor, mainly because they were. Nonetheless, any government then, now and in the future is God's chosen instrument of both authority and wrath. The "day" which you are looking forward to will be no different, for no man can take any authority here on earth unless God will's it to be so. We might face persecution as innocents, but if we do, we've done nothing less than our Lord did when He submitted to being put to death. As long as we are submitting to the true Authority, God Himself, we have nothing to fear.

My comment did not attempt refute or challenge any of that,i am a believer that it is best to pursue righteousness and blessing and avoid cursing, and never presume that I will react in a certain way at a certain time....had Peter not been so quick to announce what he thought he would do under pressure perhaps he would have been spared what he in fact did do under pressure...most American Christians have a flippant and dismissive attitude towards persecution having never experienced it.I pray for the strength to endure and do not assume that I will endure it...my statement about the Police is just fact and is in no way in conflict with the Bible or what it has to say about them but as their loyalties change they will change and will be an exception to the biblical definition...also I said nothing about "looking forward" to anything...it is just coming...it has nothing to do with me or what I want.

And....

well handy addressed that. the us government was it righteously doing this in the days of the slavery?

"all men were created equal.."

oh, if you were indian and black and also poor, a woman voting wasn't for you!

I guess the founders were bad to follow too. I mention this to show while I am not saying we shouldn't speak against corruption just that well if they pass a law and its not against god's law its reasonable to follow it.i don't like taxes, the irs. doest it make it right then I should fail to pay the irs? I don't like the fees for simply building an addition or fence in my yard. I guess I shouldn't follow them either.that is her point.

There are Christians who think that America's rebellion against England was evil and we should have remained British subjects, they think all rebellion is evil and that slavery, oppression and tyranny are always the will of God for his people under what they consider to be the only form of government approved by God which is a monarchy, and that it is the will of God that the people live and die at the mercy of the King....had they had their way it would have been best to not even been born.

I deleted that before you responded as I was reading what you said earlier.im not against the rebellion of tyranny but being a student of that. it wasn't so cut and dry. it was also brother against brother.war seldom is clean cut. I have seen it. if we are to fight then let fight for a worthy cause but well that isn't the topic.</dd></dl>
