There are many arguments that just linger around the internet. I'm trying to compile a list of these silly arguments. Are we supposed to take athiests/non-believers seriously? Well, I guess we are to love our enemies.

Practically all of these are digression, straw-man, circular logic, undocumented, misrepresentations, and plenty of other fallacies; that in which we will ironically be blamed for being guilty of using.

These things are great to know however, when someone thinks they can challenge your faith they'll realizing they're just repeating what the Devil told the first person to spread.

So what are more of these lies like the following?
1. "The Bible is a 2000 year old book"
2. "The Bible is just a book written by men/sheep herders in the desert"
3. "G-d is a sadomasochist/masochist/sadist/"
4. "The Bible is full of contradictions"
5. "Religion is a tool of control"
6. "Religion is the #1 cause of war"
7. "Hitler was a Christian"
8. "The Bible is homophobic"
9. "Christians believe in a magical-sky-daddy"
10. "Do you believe in santa too? Or the easter bunny?"
11. "The Bible is just a fairy tale about good morals"
12. "The Bible has no scientific basis"
13. "The Bible is full of Genocide"
14. "The original manuscripts have been altered and interpolated to control"
15. "There is no evidence of the existence of Christ"
16. "Christianity can't be the only right religion out of 1000s of religions"
17. "Jesus is actually a copy of mithras/horus/krishna/<insert whatever="" pagan="" deity="" here="">"
18. "Jesus is the sun god"
19. "Jesus went to India to learn from bhuddists"
20. "Christianity caused people to die burning at the stake"
21. "Virgin birth/resurrection is pagan"
22. "Christianity was invented by Paul"
23. "Christianity was invented by the Council of Nicaea or by Constantine"
24. "G-d is a schizophrenic fearmongerer"
25. "Christianity is a fear tactic"
26. "Religion is a crutch/coping mechanism"
27. "If God created man who created God?"
28. "You are unintelligent/ignorant to believe in religion"
29. "There is no proof of God/It's a fact God doesn't exist"
30. "Religion is for/Christians are bigots"

One I've heard from a few atheists (including a friend of mine I used to work with) is "The Bible says it has the truth, but there's no such thing as truth."

Just look them right in the eye and say, "Is that a true statement?"

My friend (yes, I love him like a brother, and he loves me, too, and I'm still preaching to him. He'll come around one day) just looked at me and said, "Go away."

I don't know where this statement started, I think it's actually something like "There is no truth, only perception", but it seems like certain people love to repeat it.

English Standard Version (©2001) John 18:38
Pilate said to him, “What is truth?”

It was a subject of much discussion among the Greek Philosophers (and others). A truly ancient conversation.

1. "The Bible is a 2000 year old book"
It is, well a little younger than that, but still it is a pretty old book. The Bagavad Gita is older though.

4. "The Bible is full of contradictions"
Considering how the Bible was collected over hundreds of years and many of the stories were passed orally for some time, its not that big of deal
7. "Hitler was a Christian"
Roman Catholic actually

8. "The Bible is homophobic"
The Bible does have several laws prohibiting homosexual activity and even Paul mentions that they won't inherit the kingdom.

12. "The Bible has no scientific basis"
Considering that most of the book is exposition, this is true.
13. "The Bible is full of Genocide"
It is. Genesis, Joshua, and Kings 1 and 2 contain stories of campaigns and conquests done by God's chosen people.
16. "Christianity can't be the only right religion out of 1000s of religions"
This is actually a good point to raise. Christianity is one of thousands of religions that exist and its not even completely unique.
17. "Jesus is actually a copy of mithras/horus/krishna/<insert whatever="" pagan="" deity="" here="">"
Well, it is a pretty huge coincidence considering that Jesus shares tons of traits with these deities and most of them Predate him by a few hundred years.

21. "Virgin birth/resurrection is pagan"
It is quite common in many other religious stories.

27. "If God created man who created God?"
That is actually a good question.

1) Obama is the Antichrist!
2) Democrats bad! Republicans good!
3) Aliens are angels
4) The rapture is going to happen this year! (enter year here)

jeff, that link has a tinge of universalism

An angel falls below and is disconnected. A breath, however, can never be disconnected. No matter where it may end up, how low it may have stooped, the neshamah is intrinsically bound to its origin above, and from there it receives the power to shine, even in the darkest and lowest time and place, and return to its true essence.21

sheesh, why. a church that I used to go took that position number 2, that men were the reason of the jugdement. but this needs to be a separate thread

3) Aliens are angels

They are angels. They are fallen angels; nephilim.

But I am not surprised! Even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.
2 Cor 11:14 NLT

You sir, are hilarious. Beings...who exist on another plain of existance that can travel anywhere at whille decide to fly around in space ships that can be shot down. Riiiight....

I cannot believe you people fall for that.

so I should be open about a certain parasite that may exist that could crawl into my neck or mouth and bore its way into my cervical area and override my will and use me as a host. aka go'auld?or that the aliens used the pyramids as landing platforms?

actually no, sg1 had the being that were very serpent like, what that show didn't and book. they were more like scorpions and left their tail out to see. the go'auld may have come from that idea but they didn't leave anything seeable but a scar on the back of the neck.if tok'ra then there would be no scar as they entered the mouth. they weren't evil they choose the host and vice versa. a go'auld forces himself or herself upon the host.

It's not that they need the ships. It could just be part of a deception. Remaining open minded about everything is indeed a good perspective to have and it is always good to not knee jerk about what we do not know or understand yet. We are advised about this from one of the (the wisest?) wisest men who ever lived, King Solomon.

Proverbs 18:13

13 He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him./(KJV)

We should never use scripture to justify foolishness.

In the matter of fallen angels masquarding as aliens, space ships included, I am always reminded of C.S. Lewis' Screwtape Letters:

I wonder you should ask me whether it is essential to keep the patient in ignorance of your own existence. That question, at least for the present phase of the struggle, has been answered for us by the High Command. Our policy, for the moment, is to conceal ourselves. Of course this has not always been so. We are really faced with a cruel dilemma. When the humans disbelieve in our existence we lose all the pleasing results of direct terrorism, and we make no magicians. On the other hand, when they believe in us, we cannot make them materialists and sceptics.
At least, not yet. I have great hopes that we shall learn in due time how to emotionalise and mythologise their science to such an extent that what is, in effect. a belief in us (though not under that name) will creep in while the human mind remains closed to belief in the enemy. The “Life Force,†the wor¬ship of sex, and some aspects of Psychoanalysis may here prove useful. If once we can produce our perfect work—the Materialist Magician, the man, not using, but veritably worshipping, what he vaguely calls “Forces†while denying the existence of “spiritsâ€â€”then the end of the war will be in sight. But in the meantime we must obey our orders. I do not think you will have much difficulty in keeping the patient in the dark. The fact that “devils†are predominantly comic figures in the modern imagination will help you. If any faint suspicion of your existence begins to arise in his mind, suggest to him a picture of some¬thing in red tights, and persuade him that since he cannot believe in that (it is an old textbook method of confusing them) he therefore cannot believe in you.

Aliens fit the bill rather nicely here.... beings from outer space, the stuff of science fiction that suddenly becomes science "fact". Such a close proximity to Screwtape's perfect work, the Materialist Magician.

Then too, is the fact that most rational folks will look upon little green men...or greys or reptillian... much in the same way they look at a devil in red tights and a pitchfork, a comedic fairy tale figure that only fools would believe in.

So, the whole alien deception would work out rather well for demons... they can get some to believe the lie that they are aliens and terrorize them, without any appeal to the spiritual (which could lead some right to God) and keep others safely locked in materialist mode, denying all such things as pure foolishness.
