Pope tells us to stop the insults on social media

sorry Im giving up hyphens for Lent. Apostrophes too.

an example might help empowered...you might be referring to "snarkiness" or being "snarky".
I think this form of insult evolved in ordercfor people to get round rules set by forum moderators. And then exclaim "who me? I wasnt referring to Madame X or Mr Y. Oh come on that wasnt even an insult!"
I am trying to think of an example of snarkiness...
"I just wish people would stop trying to insinuate Catholics arent saved and therefore cant graduate to Heaven!"
Instead of addressing the person directly. Even nice posters like me use indirect language to survive. The key is if you are overusing it. It gets dull if people are complaining all the time.

i apologize. snarky seems to refer more to direct sarcastic negative comments.
i think the word i was looking for was "snide"

no...I've seen it, more on facebook...even well-educated (it seems younger, usually) people are straight up beyond rude...insults, cruelty.

here's an example that made news in my general area: https://www.postandcourier.com/news...cle_4a462cda-c9c7-11e9-8134-d32dc721835d.html
i read it.
there will be people dancing on my grave. but not many because i have few or no friends.
it doesnt matter who you are . celebrating the death of someone living or dead is in REAL bad taste!

See? That's not just rude....
there are funny insults and that is neither funny nor thoughtful.
Insults need to be more creative and they dont have to venom filled hatred. Have fun with the language. Dont machette people. That is as you say beyond rude.

In a way, I kind of blame movies, tv, an books for the increased bad attitudes. A lot of the times that's one of the trade marks attributes of the heroes of the stories to have some kind of witty or stinging comeback before (or after) they save the day, get the girl, or have a happy ending.

For years people (myself included) get into our movies, binge tv shows, or book series and spend more time away from doing things in the world and getting along with real people.

I don't really have an answer to the problem either because sometimes those are all we have time for outside of our work schedule and sleep. :(

Dontcha know Catholics will be spending their time in YOU KNOW WHERE......it starts with a P.
:hysterical

You mean
You mean
Someone is an idiot because you think they're an idiot?
I'm highly insulted by this attitude.
:helmet

If someone drives like a fool and I shout out and call them a idiot, I don't care if they are insulted.

I don't call people idiots for no reason, they have to earn there title.

Hey!
You're not supposed to shout out at them and call them an idiot!
You're supposed to love them and get the heck out of their way!!!

Many years ago I had a Jesus sticker in the back bumper of my car.
I'm an aggressive driver even to this day (well, maybe a little less)...aggressive, you know, I drive well and I don't dilly dally.
Do you know that the sticker caused me to drive differently?
I had to take the darn thing off so I could drive in my usual manner.
Politely,,,but aggressively.

Don't you dare put any stickers about Jesus on your car!
LOL

I'm.mean, the Pope allegedly said Trump was not a Christian because of his opinions like he wanted to build a wall and as a leader protect his people and country and do his job as a public servant, I mean that's a insult to Trump who believes he is a Christian, and an attack on Trump's personal faith. Who's the
hypocrite

Are people actually listening to what the Pope
says about Trump? In my opinion every action Trump has taken is Christian, especially the stance on abortion...you can't nit pic like people do the Bible.......
