Physics boring? Don't tell my students that. Every other week or so, I bring out a gadget, cobbled together from stuff around the house, and the kids ask "how can I make one of those?"

They are unimpressed with well-made purchase stuff; they just think it's some kind of technical magic. But if they can see how it was made, and just put together with things I had handy, then they are impressed.
