That's Verna's grand-daughter. She's been committed to some new mental health facility. I thought she was a voluntary admission, but then Verna explained it to me better...she's basically signed away her rights to leave at will. She's there for as long as they deem fit, it seems.

She's 23. She reminds me of a me at 18-20. Pills, self-obsessed, manipulative, unproductive, etc. I pray for her often, and for her family She's very intelligent and could potentially do something with her life, but...I dunno.

Sometimes, I think psychiatrists catch those of us who go off the rails, often because of sin, and they basically punish us for having gone off the rails. Random thought of the day, lol.

Anyway, pray for Lesley, please. Only Jesus can save her, truly save her. Thanks. :-)

I commend Lesley for seeking help when she knew she couldn't cope on her own. She is in my prayers.

I once had a former daughter-in-law who checked herself into the psych ward at the hospital in her city every time she couldn't cope. (She was bi-polar.) The doctors would stabilize her meds, and within a few days would be home again. They would also provide counseling in the hope she wouldn't cut herself any longer. The problem was a circular one for her, however. Once she felt 'good' again, she would stop the meds and the manic side would kick up, reach a crescendo, then the depressive side would surface, and she wouldn't be able to cope once more.

Anyway, I do pray Lesley is sincere in seeking help this time, and that our Lord God places her amongst those - or even one person - who can reach her with our Lord's saving message.

I sure agree with Sister AirDancer on this. I think it's wonderful when some knows they're having coping skills and elect to seek help. There are many homeless roaming the streets with no idea of the consequences of their untreated sickness.

Because of your past experience, Christ_empowered , what do you think of the idea of writing to Lesley, encouraging her during her treatments/therapy, and sharing how greatly your life has changed since you chose to become part of our Lord God's family? If nothing else, you could send a note, letting her know there are many of us who are thinking (and praying) for her, and you could include a passage of Scripture that you've found to be very supportive and helpful.

That's a good idea, AirDancer. Problem is...she didn't put Verna, her grandmother+my friend, on her contact list. She put some 53 year old man who has a thing for her on there. :-(

So if your name isn't on the contact list, you can't send her mail or flowers or anything?

Hmmmm...you're right. Under HIPPAA I don't think I'm supposed to know she's in there, lol. I'll ask Verna about the situation...she's worked in the health care field and she can guide this one.

Thanks for your idea...it would be good for Lesley to hear what The Lord can do for people, from someone who's been there.

In my state, when my now-former daughter-in-law was in the hospital (psych floor), we couldn't visit until a certain point in her treatment was achieved, nor could we send flowers. But we could send cards with notes of encouragement and love.

Every state seems to have varying rules concerning mental health departments of hospitals and clinics.

OK. So, Lesley left the treatment place today. I guess there you can leave against your Doc's wishes (?) or something...I dunno. The 2 times I've been hospitalized, I had to stay until they were good and ready to let me out, so this is odd to me.

Anyway, she and her much older companion are going over to Verna's house. Lesley may have been selling one of her meds, a benzodiazepine, which is highly illegal, so that's kind of a problem. Also troubling is that she's clearly dependent on a day time tranquilizer and a night time sedative, both of which are addictive.

Ugh. I'm praying for them and for Verna, but...man oh man, it gets to me, because she kinda reminds me of me at 18/19-20, 21. It took me so long to get back (it took miracles, as well), so I'm hoping Jesus saves her before things go too far downhill.

And...that is all, lol. Please pray. :-)

Hi CE, that selling of needed drugs is indeed a real problem, and consequences both legal and medically is often severe. I'm praying also for Verna that she won't be taken advantage of.
:wave2

Thanks, Eugene. Yeah, my big concern is that she'll end up in jail and that'll be it for her. She's alienated pretty much the whole family and most of her former so-called friends are out of the picture, so she doesn't have much of a safety net.

As for Verna...I get worried about Lesley and other people in the family taking advantage of her. She's tender hearted, she likes to help people (look at what she's done for me), so on and so forth.

Prayers continue for both Verna and Lesley.

Unfortunately for Lesley, until she decides she wants to be a healthy and productive member of society, she won't change her ways. As Brother Eugene points out, "...selling of needed drugs is indeed a real problem, and consequences both legal and medically is often severe." Lesley knows that selling those meds is illegal, but she isn't at a point in her life where she understands fully that she needs the meds, and needs to be in compliance with the law.

My thoughts on this is that Lesley is using the system by voluntarily seeking treatment to escape the severer of judgments after being caught selling drugs somewhat like the alcoholic involved in a traffic accident going to seek counseling and signing up for AAA prior to their day in court; maybe the judge is dumb and will think they are sorry, and serious about change in their life.
My real prayer for Lesley is that she get her act of narcissistic behavior to change while seeking God to controlling her actions. Christians also do many things that we need prayer for, and only by His grace we change our conversation or manner of life. God is faithful, and these things might be the very thing God is allowing in her life for needed change.

Wise words, both of you.

Speaking as a former NPD-er (Christ can change anybody...even me!), I just don't know anybody but Jesus who can help her. The mental health people told her they never want to see her in their offices again. Now, when the shrinks won't treat you...that's bad. Real, real bad.

We all make mistakes. I just...I dunno..her behavior is so irrational, its ridiculous. I'll keep praying for her and Verna and the rest of the family. Hopefully, Jesus will intervene before she hits absolute rock bottom.

I pray for her recovery and that she would reach a place in her life that she knows she needs the Lord.

There is an increase in depression this last decade, and i believe it to be from the immorality and decay of our nation. It is in the atmosphere we live in. I watch daily as the head of state and the administration of our government out right lie continually and do not care that they get caught at it. They just continue on with more lies, (bold face lies). just since 2008 our government has allowed government financed abortion, That being married and just living together have the same status, made it a law that men could marry men and women can marry women. You can teach homosexuality in our schools as an acceptable norm. You child can have an abortion without notifying the parents while in school. Bringing in foreigners and using them for an illegal voting base. Stirring up trouble in crime ridden areas, chastising Israel for defending it's people from a terrorist state, using the IRS to go after political opponents. The list goes on and on and it weighs on the mortal soul. How many felt a kind of satisfaction and a good feeling when TRUMP did not bow down to the politics as usual and spoke a lot of our minds in standing against the business as usual politicians, whether you like him or not. I felt liberated somewhat for his frankness and anger of what has been going on, after being under the continuous barrage of law sanctioned sin. and no, i'm not a supporter TRUMP. I'm just talking about the stand against a lawless government. He was speaking some of my thoughts. Bad company corrupts good character. If you can not see this, then you are going to fall into a ditch.

In Him, The only true God who has warned us beforehand and called us out by His Grace, to be a light unto the world for His names sake, Amen.

We live in an increasingly, openly immoral world. Factor in family breakdown and rampant drug abuse + sexual immorality, you're going to get a lot of mental problems. And that's before you factor in economic issues, like downward mobility, poverty, the rising cost of education, rising inequality, etc.

Verna always says "Satan is on the rampage, and he's targeting the youth," and she's right.
