Pray in Everything—A Commentary on Philippians 4:6

James Brown

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
- Philippians 4:6

Thoughts on Today’s Verse…
The things that happen in our lives, whether big or small, we should pray about these before God. God will surely guide us if we can sincerely pray. Then what kind of prayer is true prayer? I’d like to share some of God’s words with you: “What does it mean to truly pray? It means speaking the words within your heart to God, and communing with God having grasped His will and based upon His words; it means feeling particularly close to God, feeling that He is in front of you, and that you have something to say to Him; and it means being especially radiant within your heart, and feeling that God is especially lovely. You will feel especially inspired, and after hearing your words your brothers and sisters will feel gratified, they will feel that the words you speak are the words within their hearts, the words they wish to say, and that what you say represents what they want to say. This is what it means to truly pray. After you have truly prayed, in your heart you will feel at peace, and gratified; the strength to love God will rise up, and you will feel that nothing in your entire life is more worthy or significant than loving God—and all this will prove that your prayers have been effective.

Good post, but I am moving this to Bible Growth and Study as this forum is for Prayer, praise and testimonies.

Great words of the only Awesome YHWH. There are so, very, many things that are not preached, taught, from the Feel Good Pulpits today and How To Prray might, very well, be the first important olesson needing to be taught to this Depressed Generation that wants to crawl, ¿slither?, off into Darvon, Opium, Herroin or any other Depressing Pain Reliever they find floating around on the streets.

When I pray and when I prayed in the past, if not driving or swinging a hammer, I closed my eyes to this world that, in myself, I could go before The Throne and kneel, respectfully, at His Feet.

On the other hand, if I were busy, building or delivering Fresh Mud, with my eyes wide opeen I spoke and, retired, I speak and listen to and for my Elohim, whom is next to me, where--ever I happen to be.

People seem not to realize they are never without the LORD no matter where they are and no matter who they are with.

On another matter, having grown up with Sam, Otis and Ray Charles, every time I see you post I want to wail, "I Feel Good," James did a lot of great music also and that was my theme song. Most Blacks have no concept of being a Black Man trapped in a White Man's body. My stepfather, Dad, and I were so white in the fifties that we had to pay folks to pick up platters for us and deliver them wrapped so noone knew we loved that music, just as much and maybe more than the Country Blues.

Praying YHWH blesses all you teach and that all you teach are His Word.
