Just received this tonight..
My friend's cousin's 13 yr old daughter in Alabama had a stroke and is in critical condition, diagnosed with leukemia as the cause of the stroke. Her name is Caroline. On Thursday, she had two brain surgeries in 24 hrs. They were getting her stabilized to start chemo and dialysis. They were planning to move her up to Memphis to St. Jude's. Her parents are self-employed, and this is taking a real toll on them.
Her aunt posted that she was not feeling well when she came home from school, and she then had a stroke. After she was rushed to the hospital, they found out that she has Leukemia and it caused the stroke. Since she is only 13 yrs old, it is a shock for this family right now, and they have two younger children.
Caroline's diagnosis is Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. (T CELL ALL) Her body has made an extraordinary amount of white cells, crowding out plasma (which helps blood clot) and creating pressure within all systems of her body. The pressure gave her leg cramps, bruising, headaches, nose bleeds and created the bleed in her brain. The lack of plasma made the bleed worse and continues to be a problem. The doctors are trying to reduce the number of white blood cells in her body by filtering them out. This is important because the chemo will start to kill these cells and overload her system. Even after the filtering, the white cell count will be very high, so dialysis has to be readily available to help Caroline's body get rid of the poisonous cells. Apparently this type has an onset of a matter of weeks!
Thank you Jesus and thank you one and all
