First, the praise:
My father has worked as a firefighter for over 20 years and today was his last day of work. He is officially retired. They did his last call this morning before he came home to announce his retirement over the scanner system and in the firehouse. It was a bit of an emotional moment for me in a way - I would have horrible nightmares as a teen that I'd find his burnt body or get news that he died in a fire and wouldn't be coming home. Some nights were just scarier when dad would work a few 24 hour shifts a week and my mom, siblings, and I would pray for my dad's safety while he was working. Other firefighters haven't been so fortunate and never make it to their retirement. Praise the Lord that my father has made it all these years as a firefighter and that God has kept him safe!
Then, the prayer requests:
-For my husband and I to each me able to find part-time jobs. My husband's health is doing better, but still isn't 100% and we're not sure if/when it will ever be. He got super sick in September and ended up resigning in October, now we're in January and we know our funds to get through probably aren't going to last more than another month. We have had plenty of financial help and God has blessed us again and again and that's why we've made it this far. My husband wants to be able to get back to working, but knows he couldn't do it full-time at this point. Pray that we can both find a part-time job and if it comes to it, that I'll be able to get a full-time job. We haven't gotten a lot of responses back from applications even though these places are supposedly dying for workers and it is getting a bit frustrating.
-My husband and I are also considering starting a business venture again. We're taking time to think and pray about it. Taking time to go over the details and see if this is something we can realistically do in the long run; trying to calculate for all sorts of worst case scenarios and if we have a solution for them. We miss working for ourselves and the freedoms that came with that and if we can't seem to get hired anywhere, we might have to start something.
