Pregnant woman fired for not marrying fiance

I'm sure a lot of people here will think that was somehow "righteous" of the church, but I think they were anything, but.

He's her fiance so they were going to get married eventually right? but the church said RIGHT NOW? That seems kind of screwy.I don't think thats right but it is their church so they run it how they see fit I guess.

I don't think they should force them to marry over the children but she did commit fornication and if she was a pastor or in a teaching position then I can see why. that link has no story, just a headline.

That's one problem. A lot of people actually DO think it is THEIR church. (Well, in truth, in many cases, they are right, because God sure wouldn't recognize it as His.)

I can understand not wanting someone actively committing a sin and not caring about it in a position of authority (ie, pastor, deacon), but am not sure the same applies to lower positions like watching the nursery.

My respect goes to that Church. The world would say "Why fire her?".The Church has the right to fire her if she is employed by them in any way.She is living in sin.
Acts 15:20
1 Corinthians 5:1
Hebrews 13:4

LIfe if full of choices.

There is a lot left out of this, so much that it is really folly to come to any kind of conclusion at this point.

Did the church give her a choice and she decided against marriage? Did the church have something in their policies that employees of the church could not be an unwed parent?

Sure the church sounds like they be a bit overly self-righteous, but I don't think we have the full story.

Regardless of the full story a righteous Church should not employ a couple living together.I know living together is very excepted by this world but it is wrong....period.

I agree with that.

What do you think about this?Do you think the Church was right?

A pregnant woman was fired from her job after the church she was working at demanded that she marry her fiance.
I think that the Church has its rules, but! thats just me, and people just live the way that fit them. or maybe some people can set a date to honor the Lord in marriage. Knowing that it might be more to the issue than just, as to why she was fired.

Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral. Hebrews 13:4.

ok, what if she repented? and the man didn't want to marry her and deceived her? like that doesn't happen?
you being a divorced woman could never be in ministry unless you were to remarry that man. the sbc has that rule.
what about lying? stealing?
gossiping? where does it stop? sure in a leadership we should but again if they aren't a leader then what is the point of it? so the church shouldn't farm out its cleaning? what about yard work? I used to work for a church and NEVER again. I was used and abused by them and the Law came down on that church,. not that I wasn't a good worker, and I wasn't. I had to grow up , but they did rob me of wages. its illegal not to pay overtime. yet they did that. I didn't agree to that.

There are a lot of "what ifs" there.

This is a difficult topic. On the one hand who is anyone to judge? On the other hand 1 Corinthians 5:9-13 seems to be quite clear about how we should deal with brothers and sisters in the church. The problem is, there is not one of us that could claim innocent.

sin is sin. I know the game. I will gladly volunteer to work in any church. but Never work for one again . politics. since I work for a utility, we power all the churches that I have at one time attended or visited. many of the large ones have properties that they rent. if we are paying saints ONLY to work. what about building? power and water. must I be saved to enter the property to read the meter? what about yard work that is done by contract? landscaping? renters must be saved? that is the issue I see and the lost will call us OUT on that double standard. gays do just that. I don't know where to draw the line exactly on what sin to overlook or not. im not saying we should just ignore it but tithed money that is for God use if we are looking it at that way is going to be done with some inconsistency.

Of course we are forgetting that Jesus said His church would only have the cream of the crop of the socialites, and that no one could belong if they were sinners. (Uh, He DID say that, right? I mean, that's how most "Christians" seem to expect "their" church to be..... and, is THAT ever a joke!)

Attending a Church and being employed by a Church are two different things.
the city I work for is employed by the church to provide power. if a line breaks to the church. the church may not pay for it but they are spending money to have water, if the lawn is being cut by a non member is he to be saved? what about the construction? garbage men that are hired to pick up trash? the definition of employment does include buying from in this case. I pay you to do this for me.

what I listed may not work directly for the church but they are paid to do that by the church.

Some churches are very serious about their social principles, that church leaders have to live by a policy of celibacy outside marriage, monogamous sex within marriage, and same sex relationships not permitted. If pastors and employees don't like it, hey, there are other places to work.

If a church vetted the employees of their roofing company for their "righteousness", there would be years of very WET services.
