My five and 1/2 year-old just brought me her math assignment -- addition with the answers up to 12. Out of 12 problems all had the correct answer but one of her 6's was written backwards. When I handed it to her graded, she looked at it then strutted out of the bedroom yelling, "Uh-huh! Uh-huh! Uh-huh-uh-huh-uh-huh!"

LOL! That is great! :D

As you may know my son is stuggling with reading but when he has spelling words and a test - he does excellent - such a great feeling for both of us when he aces his tests. We both need that reassurance that we are doing well! What a pay off it is!

Kailey has a bad habit of writing her 9's backwards. The teacher has been making them put the date at the top of their assignments and there have only been like 3 times that her 9 (for the month of Sept) has been correct.

It's a very common mistake. It takes awhile for kids to comprehend that which direction a number or letter faces matters. With almsot everything else it doesn't matter which direction it faces, so why should it with numbers and letters.
