I believe you cant seperate faith and works.
Abraham believed, and it was counted to him as righteousness. To believe, requires faith just as works require faith.
Works are done under duress - fear, or they are done in faith. Those done in faith are counted to us as rightousness because we believe Gods word. Those done in fear and duress are counted as filthy rags.
We live for Christ because we believe the life he modeled for us is the best way to live. When somebody pushes us down, we bless them, pray for them because we trust and have faith that what Jesus said is true.
These two work together imho and works push us and strengthens / tests our faith.
