put on your spiritual armor

Our Spiritual armour is the word of God.

Eph 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
Eph 6:11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Eph 6:13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Eph 6:14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
Eph 6:15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
Eph 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
Eph 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
Eph 6:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
Eph 6:19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,
Eph 6:20 For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

What is often omitted from the armour of God, is the need to train, to prepare, to be ready as well as equipped.

The way most Christians and preachers present this passage is all one needs to do is put the armour on!
Strangely they haven't read the bible.
David volunteered to fight Golant and Saul equipment him with armour, but guess what, do you know the stkry?
David could walk let alone fight wearing armour I his words, He Wasn't Use To Wearing Armour!
What makes anyone think they can pick up armour and learn to put it on and use in, in the middle of a fight!

Paul was describing professional roman soldiers,not a mob of enthusiastic amateurs.

We All need to k ow theology etc etc etc etc.

You do know that Ephesians 6:10-20 that the armour of God is His word spoken against the evil principalities of this world we have to live in that tries to battle against us.

The Holy Spirit trains us, prepares us and equips us to go forth in this world as our sword is the word of God that prepares us for battle.

The Holy Spirit trains us,
John 14:26 the Spirit will " teach you " and remind you.
1cor 9: 26+27 I don't run aimlessly, rather I beat my body, making it my slave.

Yes the Spirit will teach us, he will remid us of what he has taught and of what we have learnt.

This all implies that we are listening and learning when we are not actively evangelising.

I've just reread JohnNewtons biography and am reminded of his early attempts at preaching. Following the tradition of preaching without notes he confidently enter the pulpit, started but within moments had no idea what to say.
He learnt that while he didn't needa written sermon or extensive notes, he did need to prepare what he was going to preach.

The samelessons apply to us.
We have to know the What and Why of our faith.

We need to train ourselves, or be trained through our own bible reading/studies, our listening to sermons, our reading/listening to Christian books, blogs etc

Look at Jesus's parable of the wise and foolish men.
The wise man clearly thought and took advice as to where and how to build his house, the foolish man didn't or he ignored the advice and suffered because of it.

Yes, if we are not equipped and Spiritually prepared then the enemy will defeat us.
