Christianity is a continuous struggle between the nature of self and that of divine God. It succeeds only when the self (or the animal instincts of humans like lust greed and anger) looses its control of the body and attainment of the stature of Jesus Christ in us. St. Paul explicitly mention the term 'put on the Lord Jesus Christ' to emphasize the importance of living the life of Christ, the anointed. Putting on Christ is to let away all the provisions of the flesh and its nature. 'Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ' (Ephesians 4:13). To grow on a daily basis to a perfect man, Jesus Christ.
Is being Christ like a very easy task? Or is practical Christianity viable in this pragmatic society? Or is it irrelevant to think and discuss this topic as it is completely impractical? These are some fundamental questions raised from within to a true Christian.
The anointed Jesus gave all of us- humans, the possibility to attain the perfection in human flesh. It is no more an impossibility to man who wish to follow Jesus to be anointed. An idea of human can live without sin 'For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin' (Hebrew 4:15). Jesus Christ set us an example to us- 'For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps' (1 Peter 2:21). An example is something practically viable and as Christians, it is important for us to behold the teachings and life of Christ in our life and try to live in Him.
but
As Christians, our challenge is to live up to the stature of the perfectness of Jesus Christ. It is tough. But, not impossible. What we need is a relentless try to attain that level with the help and power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ Himself knew that being in the perfectness is impossible with human try and thus he gave us the Helper to guide and strengthen us. 'If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me' (Matthew 16:24). Lots of barriers has to be broken and hard human hearts have to be melted to achieve this stature. 'But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men' (Philippians 2:7).
More importantly, without living in Christ and walk in His words, there is no Christianity. We shouldn't me a name sake Christian, but we all have to try to be like Christ on a daily and a personal basis.
