Quantum physics and Christianity

What sort of illusion?
Because of all the space between the atomic particles of the matter in which we and the universe are made up of, we're more 'not here' than we are 'here'. At the end of the age God will withdraw the power that keeps all the particles of the universe suspended where they are, and which forms what we see and feel, and all will come to an abrupt end. That's how I understand things.

Basically, the material world is more an image than it is a reality. And God is moving his finger ever so closer to the delete button. And all the pixels of matter we see with our eyes from afar to give the impression of solid matter will be scattered and destroyed.

Quantum physics is a study of how particles can behave like waves.

Like marbles in a box vx water.
When we get down past the protons, neutrons, and electrons we get to quarks...and then into Higgs-Boson particles. (Which is an explanation of solid matter vx energy/waves)

And where the scientists can explain in a really complicated fashion how each of these behave....they have no idea as to why. (Because logically they shouldn't)

We can understand magnetism, inertia, gravity and etc...but this stuff is out of nowhere. The only reason this stuff behaves the way it does is because of the voice of God.

That same voice which created the universe can tell anything anywhere to be anything at any time. Yes, Jesus could turn stones into bread or water into wine...but the same thing applies to the air we breathe or the light we see. Because in reality... it's not there. It's an illusion held together by the voice of God.
But knowing that doesn't mean that you get to break the natural laws. You can't fly or turn lead into gold.
But it does mean that you only really own your attitude. Everything else is God's.

That's not how it is when I'm trying to start the wretched motor mower that is resisting a start. I don't regard the material world as an image when I fall off a jetty into the water below or am chopping wood.

This is about the best summary on the subject I've ever seen. Are you a physicist?

And that's the point: What seems to be solid reality to us is in fact more 'not here' than it is 'here'. The materially created universe is actually a collection of floating particles with lots of space in between them that aren't even connected solidly together. Only from our perspective are they solidly connected together.

Creation is like a collection of pixels in an image with space in between them which when viewed from afar give the appearance of it being a solid reality. And this is what foolish mankind places all his hopes and dreams upon--a mere image that God is going to wipe away very soon.

I've heard this. Mind baffling.

I'll have to remember that next time I stub my foot on a concrete block and bust it open, causing my warfarin intoxicated blood to come gushing out and the need arises for me to be rushed to the local hospital's emergency dept.

They also say that you never really touch anything, the it's just atoms vibrating against eachother

I have a hard time believing that one

So do I. I could never believe that when I hug my wife and do other intimate things with her. Is that nothing more than atoms vibrating against each other?
Sounds close to fantasy to me.

I'm a real human being who touches and cuddles real human beings (wife and children). So, is human flesh only vibrating atoms that are not meant to be solid matter?

I think the most we do is trade electrons between the shell of electrons surrounding each other's molecules.

You'll have a difficult time convincing my wife and me that that is what we did over curried chicken and rice dinner tonight.

Interesting thread. My understanding is similar to Jethro's.

It has to do with quantum entanglement. They've taken particles, separated the particles by miles, then stimulate one particle, it has a reaction...and the other particle is instantly stimulated also. Wirelessly in fact.

What it means is that, every particle of the universe knows what every other particle is doing and reacts accordingly to stimuli.

So the theory goes is, the desk is not there when you're not looking at it, but it senses that you're coming, so does what it has to do to manifest so that you can see and touch it.

Anybody see the movie, the 13th Floor? Sorta like that.

Search youboob for the video about the double slit experiment. It explains it pretty down to earth for us mere mortals, lol.

Is everything really just energy?

I agree with JohnDB, comment.

It's not that we are all energy, because what really baffles us is that we don't have an explaination. Unlike so many other scientific principles, Quantum Physics doesn't seem to have a guiding force or guiding principle behind it. So many other materials and forces we can attribute a reason behind it. From water and how things float and sink in it, to metals and electricity, to wood and rock. We have studied different material and have an explaination for why each of these materials act the way they do, and how they interact with eachother. Even gravity, electricity, magnesium, and how thin or dense the air is are things we have principles to explain about them. Those are things we can't see.

But quantum physics is only observations as far as I know. There's no real theory or principle for why they act as they do except doing probability math to not e plain but predict behavior. That in my opinion is a sign that we really don't understand it. It could be that we are all energy, just as easily as that every particle has a living relationship with every other particle. One explaination explains particles behaving like waves, by saying there aren't any particles only waves of energy. The other explaination explains how particles react to each other even if they are seperated by a long distance. I would say since the explainations are not actively used in predicting how quantum physics behaves (so far the only explaination I know of is probability math passed on what is observed), then because those explainations aren't used they don't hold up any authority to being right or wrong.

It's very intreasting, but it's new and not understood.
