Other. To help build the body of Christ where I can. That is the point, not to get, but to give.

- I don't attend a church house, but a home group.

- It doesn't make me feel comfortable because there is more one on one sharing, i'm on the shy side so it actually invades my comfort zone.

- Yes I feel it is more "organic" than regular church, so it's biblical.

- I feel it is biblically traditional but not like todays traditional church.

wow destiny,

I am home churched too but we don't have much in common :o

I got to thinking about one of your questions about being comfortable.
I think a great sermon would probably make me uncomfortable. I am always trying to better myself, and sometimes a need a little push.

Yes, when we try to improve ourselves He helps us to improve :D .

I go to church because of 1,2 and 3. Although I'm not sure if the Church of today is 100% biblical, the idea itself is certainly biblical.

Do you attend your church because;

l. it makes you feel comfortable - No

2. tradition - No

3. strongly believe it is biblical - No

4. other (what) - Because there are people there who need help

When will we leave this modern mentality (400 AD - 1980 AD) that we attend church? What if we simply stated that we ARE the church? Would this then put us in a position to attend church wherever we are? Say as a wallmart greeter or a 3rd grade teacher? [concept taken from Reubel Shelly, CofC]

When we leave this mentaltiy, then duelism (seculare vs. holy) will disolve and we will be holy in our secular surroundings.

But if you are refering to why I congregate at a secular building with other people that profess Christ as our Lord, then allow me to answer it this way.

l. it makes you feel comfortable
It puts me around a group of people that edify me (and hopefully I edify) as well as giving me a place where I can come together in worship with my brothers and sisters in Christ.

2. tradition
Yes, we have traditions, such as partaking of the Lords Supper each Sunday as a reminder of the suffering that Christ endured on our behalf.
We also have a tradition of sending out an alter call at the end of the sermon for those listening that want to accept Christ as their saviour. This also affords the opportunity for them to pronounce their faith through baptism if the spirit pulls them in that direction.

3. strongly believe it is biblical
I believe we are commanded to come together. This can be in a mega building with thousands or it can be a handfull in a home somewhere.

4. other (what)
See opening statment.

Both Christ & John were on the outside looking in. I believe that we are seeing the Matthew 25:1-12 parable once again lived before our very eyes, and again with Christ outside giving the Midnight CRY. (compare Matthew 23:38 & Jeremiah 15:17-20)

---John

1) To recieve Jesus, body, blood, soul, and divinity in the most holy sacrifice of the Mass as food for my soul in the desert of life.

2) To be fed by the word of God by a minister of God.

3) To be in communion with the body of Christ, of which one part cannot do without the other. We are not in this journey along but proceed accross the desert to the promised land with God's chosen people.

4) So that I am renewed and refreshed, ready to go out in to the world and spend another day spreading the name of Jesus Christ.

5) The Catholic Church is the most biblical.

6) The Catholic Church carries the traditions passed down from the Apostles for 2000 years.

That wouldn't be an accurate statment. However, this might be closer to the truth.

The Catholic church carries the accumulated traditions of the past 2000 years. Some of these traditions are from apostistilic authority while others are traditions from other cultures and events while striving to maintain an amalgamated culture from the ages past to the ages future.

Again, it fails within it's own tradition. Tell me Thess, from what era [culture] does your priest's robe's derive?

I'll need more than handwaving on this. Especially since your question below indicates clearly that your don't understand the difference between a (T) Tradition and a (t) tradition.

It's an immaterial question. What robes a priest wheres is not an Apostolic Tradition. Priests would not even been required to wear a robe if they were unable to in a country where the faith was heavily persecuted. Such questions only prove that you really don't understand Catholicism and have never engaged your mind in what it is all about. I find that sad.
