I don't agree with everything he says of course. But he is very educated and speaks with a passion for what he knows.

I'm not even in your faith, and I enjoy watching this man talk. Not because he is wrong or anything, but to watch a man or women defend what they believe in with such passion or vigor is so touching and inspirational to me.

I may not agree with his views on Post modernism or Evolution, but I can respect the fact that he has taken the time to study these issues and has at least a solid ground for why he believes what he believes.

ah i was wondering if you listened to him.

I've been listening to Mr. Zacharias for several years. A notable apologist who came to Christ through the influence of a Gideon Bible. He has been a speaker at our International Convention (Gideons), and has been a fervent supporter (of our ministry).

the Gideon bible(kjv) was my first bible after my conversion. I gave it to a missionary that was in Belize.

I didn't vote yet. I haven't listened to him in years but he helped me when I first became a believer so I think favorably from what I can remember.

Maybe listing "Idiot" as a choice is a tad harsh? It's also a little ironic to have spelled it "Idoit" :)

i corrected that misspelling. It's in the response to someone calling him(zacharias) a false teacher , so I created this poll and asked the question. I know that they are athiest who will think that. I gave them a response area on the poll. I know that zacharias isnt an idiot, far from it. I changed the poll again as it now says someone to ignore. No offense to the atheists here.

i edited the poll and this post.

Awe shucks, I hope I didn't offend. I like the new choice better! :thumb
I voted for defender of the faith! Thanks for the thread, maybe I'll try to find Ravi on the old www...

How I praise God for this man's ministry! It has assisted me often in defending my faith in Christ. Especially in the University classroom. :thumb God bless and protect these precious few who continue to awaken the church and move out in the spreading of our Lord's gospel! :amen

I voted not sure. He is certainly zealous and I don't doubt his sincerity, and he is also a good orator, but the content of what he is saying is pretty basic, at least to me. For example, he uses the same thought that I do considering the existence of God--- he says that no matter how much you break down something, that it cannot explain its existence inside of itself, but requires something from the outside. I say it similar: the fact the the universe can be understood conceptually shows to me that a concept was behind it's formation. Same general idea, and I don't consider what I thought anything special, just (spiritual) commonsense.

That all being said, even cult leaders can argue as passionately for the existence and faith in God and the Bible, but in itself does not mean they have the truth. It merely means it satisfies their own personal conception and explanation for things. That's why I voted "not sure". I'd have to hear more from him to be certain. I have the feeling the bottom line is that he believes what most TV ministries believe, but it's just that he can orate efficiently to sound convincing.

Let me give you a small example of this man's ministry... :yes

What I believe in my heart must make sense in my mind. Ravi Zacharius

To equate this man's ministry and mental aquity ~ in Christ ~ with TV ministries is a very far fetched comparison... Which TV ministry have you ever come across which can reach intellectuals in this manner?

I hope you may actually listen to this clip, and recognise the scholarship and Spirit of his ministry.

I've posted several of his videos on here before which were well received. :)

Yes, I listened to that clip before and also searched some on youtube. I did not say he was a TV minister. I meant that he seems to believe what mainline TV ministries teach.

I can think of a man (now deceased) who used to teach 24/7 on TV worldwide but did not want to be associated with TV evangelists. His name was Dr. Gene Scott and appealed to intellectual rebels. He was scholarly (PHD from Stanford University) and intelligent, but rather coarse by many people's standards. He was the guy who used to wear hats and smoke a cigar, and he always had piles of books on each side of his chair and scribblings on the blackboard. One of his favorite sermons was something to the effect "A Philosopher looks at the Resurrection of Christ" where he lays out all the possibilities of what could have happened to Jesus' body but nothing makes sense short of the resurrection.

The reason I say "intellectual rebels" is because the people who gravitated to him could not fit in to the church's culture of traditions and wanted to truly and intellectually seek out God, but perhaps they were told by the church they were going to hell--- certainly not your run-of-the-mill Christian.
