Realistic Christian Dating Advice Please

I would say it would probably be best until you both know each other well to let her know you have a mental illness, since most people are shocked when you tell them it shouldn't be a big deal to not tell her right away. That way she can get to know you well beforehand and see that you are a normal guy. If that makes sense. But she should know by the time it gets more serious.

She might be a virgin still depending on what age she was saved at and/or what type of home she was raised in. I believe that most christian women would be thankful that a man wanted to wait for marriage, even if he and she are no longer virgins. When my oldest sister was courting/intentionally dating they had a time limit on dating time and engagement time; maybe about 4-6 months each. That way since they knew they were planning on marrying and that it was the Lord's will it would remove more time for temptation and they could remain pure of heart in their relationship.

I posted this in another thread but it could help you as well: Christian dating (or courtship/intentional dating) can look very different for many people. This is a really good post on a blog I like to read:
What worked for me: preparing for intentional dating The second part is shorter but really good as well: Part 2

One of the books they suggest I have read and would suggest as well, along with the sequel. I Kissed Dating Goodbye and Boy Meets Girl

I hope this helps!

Thanks Rachel I did look at that blog. Being pure is definitely something I want to do. I am a little jaded from meeting girls in bars and clubs and seeing how they treat other guys. I honestly don't have girls in my social circle so it is hard to meet the type of girl I am looking for. I really shouldn't use the forum for my rants and insecurities. Oh well. I am glad you decided to post on the forum you seem like a good influence. God Bless.

It's okay, I understand having insecurities, everyone does about something. Those books I mentioned are really good though, maybe they could help.

I think God is trying to help me trust Him with my life and part of me is fighting it. I am a big reader so I will give one a try. Would you suggest the one the author said helped her most or a better one for a guy or something?

I would probably suggest I Kissed Dating Goodbye and Boy Meets Girl because those are also written by a man and so maybe it could help you more. But those two books are common with both men and women.

My favorite book on the subject of Christian "dating" is "When God Writes Your Love Story" by Eric and Leslie Ludy. Really good stuff in there.
