Recommend a CD

If you're into Southern gospel, then I'd recommend the Amazing Grace cds - there are three of them. It has hymns sung by country and Souther gospel artists. I really like them.

The new Delirious?, "The Mission Bell". It's a little different than their other stuff, a little more worshipful, although they aren't necessarily songs that would make good worship songs in church. I didn't like it at first, but now it's almost all I listen to. The new Tree63 is pretty good too.

Simple Songs - Steve Bell

This Changes Everything - Poet Voices (Southern Gospel Quartet)

Symphony of Praise - The Cathedrals (Southern Gospel Quartet)

Act of God - Acappella

Sweet Fellowship - Acappella

The Acappella Project - Glad

Christmas:

Some Children See Him - Gas House Gang (Barbershop Quartet)

O Holy Night - Sandi Patti

Acappella Christmas - Glad

Still the Greatest Story Ever Told - The Gaither Vocal Band

Jeremy camp-the worship cd

ApolgetiX-the new and the used

Current 93 - I Have A Special Plan for This World (EP.) Kinda hard to come by.

Underoath - They're Only CHasing Safety Special Edition with DVD - Christian Metalcore

I agree, that cd by Underoath is awesome.

Demon Hunter ....'The Triptych'
So many great songs on that cd especially love the song 'The Tide Began to Rise'.

Falling Up, Dawn Escapes. They don's sound christan, but trust me, they are. They rock!

Underoath's new CD - Define the Great Line (It comes out this summer, I have it and it's amazing).

Donald Lawrence - I Speak Life

As Cities Burn - Son, I Love You At Your Darkest

Anathallo - Sparrows

Anathallo - Floating World

Ari Thanos - The Grace of Fashion is Dead

Byron Cage - Invitation to Worship

Lecrae - Real Talk

Chasing Victory - I Call This Abandonment

The American Black Lung - Self Titled Album, real good.

Maylene and the Sons of Disaster - Self Titled Album: AMAZING.

Cool Hand Luke - The Fires of Life

Cool Hand Luke - Awake, O Sleeper

George Huff - Miracles

Life In Your Way - Ignite and Rebuild

Sullivan - Hey, I'm a Ghost

More to come soon. :D

Let's see...

Kutless-Strong tower
Casting Crowns-Life Song

Here is a song by a band you all may never guess. They are/were one of the mega/super-bands of years past and some of the music is still on the charts!
Much of their music has God, embedded/hidden within because it could not sell if up front in those days. Because of a fallout within the band, the newer music is more up front with its message :P

On the turning away
From the pale and downtrodden
And the words they say
Which we won't understand
Don't accept that what's happening
Is just a case of others' suffering
Or you'll find that you're joining in
The turning away

It's a sin that somehow
Light is changing to shadow
And casting it's shroud
Over all we have known
Unaware how the ranks have grown
Driven on by a heart of stone
We could find that we're all alone
In the dream of the proud

On the wings of the night
As the daytime is stirring
Where the speechless unite
In a silent accord
Using words you will find are strange
And mesmerised as they light the flame
Feel the new wind of change
On the wings of the night

No more turning away
From the weak and the weary
No more turning away
From the coldness inside
Just a world that we all must share
It's not enough just to stand and stare
Is it only a dream that there'll be
No more turning away?

Well, I could list several albums to check out. One of the best of 2005 was Sufjan Seven's Chicago. He uses alot of Christian symbolism, but his music is very complex experimental pop influenced by Steve Reich, folk music, Crosby, Stills & Nash, and Brian Wilson's work with the Beach Boys.

Aside from that, I'd also recommend:

Boards of Canada - The Campfire Headphase

Air - Talkie Walkie, as well as their album 10,000 Hz Legend

Beach Boys - Pet Sounds

Brian Wilson - Smile

The Zombies - Odessey and Oracle

The Polyphonic Spree - The Beginning States Of

The Flaming Lips - Check out any one of these three albums: the Soft Bulletin, Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, and At War With The Mystics

Van Dyke Parks - Song Cycle

Harry Nilsson - Pandemonium Shadow Show

Animal Collective - Feels

Those are just a few.

james1959! LOL I'm 49 and that is Pink Floyd... and a good song at that.

I see that Voyageur is OLD too! 8-)

From a Roger Waters chat session:

MSN Live~still_waters
do you believe in God and that it was destiny what you achieved or do we control our destiny?
Mr. Roger Waters
No, I don't believe in fate. There is something in the organisation of natural history and in history itself that leaves me to suppose that there is much more out there than we can comprehend. When I say "out there", I'm not sure that I don't really mean "in here"...inside ourselves. I don't subscribe to any religious dogma, but I'm closer to believeing in
god than I am to being agnostic. I believe in the idea that there are matters that are spiritual.

LOL, I didn't think I'd get busted that fast :-D
.... RW is the "fallout within the band" I speak of !! and the "newer music" is from "Momentary Lapse Of Reason" on up. Also check-out Gilmore's solos

all in all I'm stuck on the old bands, I have a hard time finding creativity in today's music,(not that it's not there).
Has Moody Blues been mentioned ??
