Religion helps you deal with stress

When I first read this article, I thought the experts were trying to explain it like a Marxist would explain religion: its the opiate of the masses. Then I realized that, from Christian perspective, this is just what we'd expect--people who need God the most seek Him out, and He does not disappoint.

That's no surprise to us as Christians. And besides, I would imagine that people of faith would tend to have better stewardship over their bodies, what they feed it and how to go about life in general and that makes one happier.

Yes, imagine those not just with a religion, but a real faith in Christ too! :) Unfortunately, I see far too many obese ministers, especially in the Baptist (no offense) religion. Their wives as well. How very sad, and a very bad example... do as I say (trust God, live healthy) and not as I do.

I wonder why it is not a priority, why they don't take care of themselves first? :shrug

Well, I'm trying very hard now. Soon I will have new organic product to eat and I expect (faith) to become healthy and slim. :D

I live with my system on "flight or fight" and it's literally going to kill me. Some of this, as I just shared in another thread, stems from PTSD (25 years ago in a disabling accident)...and I have had to use many modalities to calm my system. Food is highly important... (If I'm taking this off track, please forgive me) ... just last night my PCA made wheat bread and left me some... I couldn't resist, but my allergy made me sick.

Sickness stresses the body too... it's not just "mental" stress that faith in God helps diminish. Oh I so wish to get to where I live day by day in the glory and trust of God without any worries, just like HE wants us to live... for too long it's been day by day surviving through my pain...soon, this will end!

be well.

I think often obesity is cultural, not so much related to religion. Around here, the Baptists are more traditionally Southern than, say, the Presbyterians, so they eat all kinds of not-so-healthy stuff at all socioeconomic levels. Pentecostals too.
