Rev 21:1-5 (What does the word "new" mean)

Can someone help me understand what the word "New" Means in this verse.

Rev. 21:1

And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.....

Verse 5 says:

And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new....

Does this mean "New" like every part of earth and every part of heaven is to be re-created totally new and all of the original earth and original heaven is to be burned up and destroyed completely.

Another words all atoms and molecules will be completely gone and all new atoms and new molecules will be replacing them.

Or does "new" mean something else. Does it mean that earth and heavon is redone. Using the same atoms and the same moleules over again. Not destroying them only cleaning them or fixing them. Like instead of a "new" carbourator you get a re-built carbourator.

So does "new" in this verse mean "bran new" or "rebuilt new"?

I believe it means "bran new"

Am I right in my way of thinking?

Let me know?

Thanks,

Zotah

Waz up,,

I would say your wrong in your thinking,,,,,

We will be changed???? Yes ,,the earth will be changed the Heavens (atmoshere earth sky) will be changed.....

But this is not new,,,,In the first earth age the earth was like it will become at the end....

Its like getting a brand new carbourater,,,but its the exact type model with exact same spec as one you previoulsy owned...

Now you see my problem: your wrote:

So your agreeing with me: It's a bran new carbourater and that means "New" Which means switched out with the old one. Replaced with a "new" one. or do you mean something else?

Then you wrote: We will be changed???? Yes ,,the earth will be changed the Heavens (atmoshere earth sky) will be changed.....

But this is not new,,,,

This is just the opposite of what you wrote about "New" earlier.

You see my problem, Maybe you can clarify to me what you mean by the word "New" a little better.

Thanks,

Sure,,,,,

If you want to be super technical,,,which we probably will have to be to answer your question,,,,forget about the word new.......

The earth will return to the state it was in,,,,,in the first earth age......Our body will return to the state they were in,,,,in the first earth age......Is this new?????? Of course not.....

By "new" God means he will rejuvenate the earth again,,,,,,,and for all those who overcome he will restore back........

You know what???? throw that old analogy out for me please.... ,,,I will give you a correct one (my bad)

Its like having a new carbuerator,,,the best one you ever had (perfect) then you have to give it up for a weaker one inferior if you will,,,,but later you get the same (perfect) carbuerator back......

SO is this (perfect) carbuerator new?????? Not really,,,interesting question though....

I appreciate your trying to answer my question the best way you can.

But, I'm still not getting it.

I believe there is a difference between a new Carbourator and a re-built Carbourator.

Your giving me 2 different definitions of the word "New"

If you say were getting a New Carbourator then you mean Completely New (Nothing from the old Carourator will be part of the new one) Complete new in every way.

and if you say Re-built Carbourator (Your saying that your taking the original Carbourator and rebuilding it with new parts, however the Core outside is still the same)

So what is it, Is it a re-built Heavon and a re-built Earth.

or is it a bran new Heavon and a bran new Earth. Nothing left from the old?

AH Im more a straight to the point kinda person,,,,

Besides we cant capture the essence of GOd using the main component in a combustion engine,,,so with that said,,,We as humans were once in spiritual bodys,,,no flesh,,,now when Christ returns ,,,we will go back into those spiritual bodys....

Is this a new body????

The earth was once beautiful (it still is) but it was free of many of the things that polute it now,,,it will return to the way it was.....Is this a new earth ???????

No these things arent new (technically) they are things of a history we have no rememberance of.....

So bottom line is your saying that "new" means "rebuilt"."make-over" "redone" or "Upgraded"

All these words mean to me that the word "new" is different then the word "new" that I grew up to understand.

There is either the word "new" meaning "bran new" or "new' meaning "rebuilt"

It's hard to get this simple word nailed down and defined.

Let's say I'm right and the word "new" really means "new" and that not one molecule was kept from the old.

How would that go against scripture? If I accepted the word "new" at really meaning "bran New"

Maybe,,,,or maybe as people we get accustom to using words that really dont fit......

Take a look at another verse I found:

2 Peter 3:10-13....and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved.....verse 12-13...Wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat. Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

dissolved means to me totally destroyed. If something is totally destroyed, then wouldn't you have to completely make it new again from scratch.

Also in Rev. 21:4-5....for the former things are passed away vs. 5 and he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new....for these words are true and faithful.

He says (I make all things new) and then Jesus says (these words are true and faithful)

Does this point to the meaning of "new" meaning "bran new" or "rebuilt new" just doing a "make-over" on earth or completely destroying the earth in its entirety and creating a bran new earth Thousands of times better then this earth.

What do you think?
