Rick Warren is at it again.

Rick Warren, the best selling author of "The Purpose Driven Life" and senior teaching pastor at Saddleback Church in California, has invited Sen. Barack Obama to speak to the congregation of the faithful on Dec. 1, 2006. In doing so, he has joined himself with one of the smoothest politicians of our times, and also one whose wickedness in worldview contradicts nearly every tenet of the Christian faith that Warren professes.

This is good news! Maybe christians will get their eyes open if the man outright exposes himself.
I think we'll see Rick Warren move more and more into the political spotlight, he wont be able to resist. In all honesty, Rick Warren is a lot more dangerous to the body of Christ than Barack Obama is.
I'm sure the two will be equally yoked bedfellows.

I don't know very much about Rick Warren, but I don't like the fact that he has invited the rock star Barac Obamma to his church to give a testimony. Because I don't like it, doesn't mean I can't give him the benefit of the doubt. Maybe God wants to a good work through this meeting and it could bring benefits for the Body of Christ.

As far as him being a universalist, I have read some of what he said on CNN, and FOX. To me he was saying that a Muslim, gay person, an Arab, black, white, indians, and different kinds of people can come to Christ if they accept the message of the Gospel. So, tell me, What is wrong with that? You guys are going to have to give me some facts and not just theories, and supositions.

I know some of you have been hurt by certain churches, but it doesn't give you a right to have a critical heart. But you can if you wish. Therefore, all I hear from some of you is much complaining and murmoring. I sugest you get over that nasty spirit, and get on with God's business. Get over your prejudices, and seek a humble and meek heart, and allow God to do His business here on earth. You guys should really be ashamed of yourselves.

May God bless, golfjack

Lighthouse Trails, followed by comments from a friend:

From the Lighthouse Trails Newsletter:

Every week I receive a copy of Rick Warren's e-newsletter that goes out to pastors and other church and ministry leaders around the world. And every week, I watch as this newsletter endorses, promotes, and exalts the names of people, books and organizations whose spirituality opposes biblical Christianity. In essence, this newsletter is like a slap in the face to those who, in years and centuries gone by, have died defending the true faith and the gospel message of Jesus Christ and did not compromise even unto their deaths.

In this week's newsletter, Rick Warren quotes Henri Nouwen, who, at the end of his life, said he was uncomfortable with those who say Jesus is the only way to salvation and that he wanted to help people find their own path to God. Nouwen is mentioned in nearly a dozen other newsletters by Rick Warren, and in one newsletter, Warren says his wife Kay loves the Nouwen book In the Name of Jesus, which has a chapter on contemplative prayer. In one week's newsletter, Warren devoted most of the issue to the emerging church, even posting a response to criticism by Emergent Leaders Brian McLaren, Doug Pagitt, Spencer Burke and Tony Jones. McLaren is favorably quoted or mentioned in about seven other issues. Organizations like The Ooze (promoting the emerging church, contemplative and New Age spirituality) is recommended in three issues. Spencer Burke, director of The Ooze, affirms his contemplative sympathies when he says:

I stopped reading from the approved evangelical reading list and began to distance myself from the evangelical agenda. I discovered new authors and new voices at the bookstore- Thomas Merton, Henri Nouwen and St. Teresa of Avila. The more I read, the more intrigued I became. Contemplative spirituality seemed to open up a whole new way for me to understand and experience God. I was deeply moved by works like The Cloud of Unknowing, The Dark Night of the Soul and the Early Writings of the Desert Fathers.

The majority of Rick Warren's newsletters have at least one contemplative or emerging quote, endorsement or recommendation. Some of these weekly promotions include Youth Specialties, Leonard Sweet, Thomas Merton, Ken Blanchard, Laurie Beth Jones, Jim Wallis, and the list goes on and on. Basically, Rick Warren believes that contemplative/emerging spirituality is great and will lead many people closer to God!

This Sunday night, Fox news will be presenting a program called, "Can Rick Warren Change the World?" As church leaders and secular leaders alike have found themselves in awe of this man's Purpose Driven paradigm, I, as a believer in Jesus Christ, have been in awe too. But my amazement isn't over Rick Warren's plans to save the world; no, my amazement is over Christian leaders and their blindness to what is really taking place. They have been overtaken and lured by a seductive spirituality that calls itself Purpose Driven, emerging church, seeker-friendly and a number of other names but has its origin in the Garden of Eden when the serpent said, You will be like God.

Alice Bailey, the theosophist who coined the term New Age, said that the age of enlightenment (when everyone realizes they have divinity and are united with each other and creation) will not come to the earth around the Christian church but rather through it. When a New Age sympathizer like Leonard Sweet (author of Quantum Spirituality) can talk about global connectedness and God in all in one book then do an audio series with "America's pastor" just a few years later, and no one blinks an eye, then maybe Alice Bailey (who was instructed by her spirit guide)was right.

The Lord will preserve those who are His, and the gates of Hell will not prevail against the church, but the Bible also says that a great falling away will take place before the return of Christ, and if possible, even the elect will be deceived. May we, as believers, by the grace and strength of God, cling to that old rugged Cross that is offered so freely to those who call upon the name of the Lord. And may we stand boldly, as our brothers and sisters of past times did, defending the one message that can save.

"And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death." Revelation 12:11

My oh My, I guess it is wrong to be excited in the Lord. Doesn't the Bible say to make a joyful noise unto the Lord. We are not of the world, but must live in the world. Should we still have those old wooden floors, run down pews, and no carpeting and beautifull things for God's house of Worship. I guess it is wrong for a believer to have a high opinion of himself and tell the unbelieving world how joyous it is to be a Christian? Do we not have computer graphics, and screens that show us Bible verses and songs?

Well, to me what you perceive a church to be is pretty dull and doesn't fit into the modern world. You call it new age. And our mad because it differs with your denominational thinking.

I praise my God and I say: YES LORD, YES LORD, YES LORD, YES YES LORD.

Your post tells me that you haven't read any of the links or subject matter. I am guessing thats why you seem to be off topic.
It also just occured to me that no matter what information is presented to you as to why this man is a false teacher, you would still approve because you feel those things are right.
I have nothing more to discuss with you, you will most likely only attack me personally anyway.

Rick Warren has hooked up with brian Mclaren of the emergent church. The emergent church is a new age church.
http://www.lighthousetrailsresearch.com/ccoakland.htm
Calvary Chapel has rejected this purpose driven stuff and what more to shop that Chuck Smith is a man of integrity, Calvary Chapel fired his own son Chuck Jr, for embracing the new age stuff.
This is one of the many papers on this apostate. Beore you defens this guy, I suggest you research him a little

I even have videos of him at his church ''embracing'' ken blanchards theology, who in case you don't know is the new agers version of Billy Graham

Look at some of these links or google your own
http://www.pro4machineworks.com/purpose ... _cult.html

As Calvary Chapel pastors across North America prepare to attend this year's annual pastors conference starting Monday, many in the church at large are watching and waiting to see if Calvary's recent position paper on the emerging church movement will have a meaningful impact. The position paper, issued after evidence surfaced that some Calvary Chapel pastors were endorsing and promoting the emerging church movement, stated that Calvary Chapel was rejecting the emerging movement including the contemplative and mystical aspects of it. The paper said that those Calvary churches that were teaching and/or promoting emerging should no longer be affiliated with Calvary Chapel.

The decision to issue such a position paper was not easy, according to sources we spoke with. Chuck Smith Sr. (founder of Calvary Chapel) is the "spiritual father" to many Calvary pastors and such a severance would have significant consequences. For instance, his own son, Chuck Smith Jr. (a Calvary pastor), is among those who have apparently turned toward the emerging church. According to statements made recently by Chuck Smith Jr, his Capo Beach Calvary Chapel is no longer a part of Calvary Chapel: "Officially, we have withdrawn from the Calvary Chapel affiliation." It is expected that other Calvary Chapel pastors may follow suit because of the new position paper.

Lighthouse Trails Publishing has done extensive research on the contemplative and emerging church movements and found that most ministries and Christian organizations that are promoting these New Age belief systems (contemplative and emerging) are not turning away from them even after they have been made aware of the concerns and dangers. While a few Christian leaders such as John MacArthur have stood firmly against these mystical movements, Calvary Chapel may be the first large ministry that has been directly influenced to actually denounce the false teachings of these movements. If Calvary Chapel stands firm on defending the gospel message and rejecting these heretical doctrines, it may be setting a precedent for other Christian ministries to do likewise. With organizations such as Purpose Driven, Zondervan, NavPress publishers, Willow Creek and Renovare all promoting contemplative spirituality and with many other ministries appearing to head that way, it is becoming less and less popular to do what Calvary Chapel has done. But it is a time in history when compromising the integrity of the gospel could actually help to unfold the greatest spiritual deception Christianity has ever seen. May God help Calvary Chapel pastors and the pastors of the body of Christ at large to stand, not for the false christs and false doctrines of this world, but for the Savior and Light of the world, Jesus Christ.
May the apostle Paul's exhortation to the church be ours also:

"And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified." I Corinthians 2:1-2

IMPORTANT REPORT BY UNDERSTAND THE TIMES, ROGER OAKLAND

Roger Oakland, of Understand the Times, has been ministering to Calvary Chapel pastors around the world for 20 years. As Roger has observed the growing influence of contemplative and emerging in both Calvary Chapel churches and the body of Christ, he believes what we are witnessing in much of evangelicalism today is a subtle return to Roman Catholicism. Roger has counted the cost as he has continued to speak up and warn the church, often being criticized for his stand. On the eve before Calvary Chapel pastors head to California for their annual meeting, Roger has written a powerful and important report that we are presenting to you now:

I know Rick is a Baptist, and not a Pentecostal. You arfe right, he is a false teacher leading people on the wrong path. This really saddens me. I am going to check out my own church to see if they back up his teachings. I also noticed John Maxwell's name mentioned. I think he helps churches with buildiing leadership. This is what my Pastor is doing right now, with dummy me helping him. I hope my Pastor doesn't subscribe to what Rick Warren is teaching. If he does, I will have to leave and find another church. If indeed your church is embracing this stuff, I would encourage you to stay...
Truly you are a man of God, and this would be a great opportunity for you to be that light, that voice of reason, the salt of the earth... There are no coincidences. God has you where he wants you to be.

wHEN it comes to false teachers the evil one shows no favorites.
bAPTIST, PENICOSTALS, JW, MORMONS, 7TH DAY, CATHOILICS, THe devil has no favorites. He will use who ever and whom ever he can. Yes warren is a false teacher who is a baptist...

''contempletive prayer''

This is a new age method of prayer that was remade popular by new age Guru ken blanchard..Its a word focus style of prayer e.g. say you want a bigger church. focus on the words'' bigger church'' and meditate on it for 30 minutes or so. Of course the Christian would mediate on it for 30 minutes as well, with Jesus is mind....., however scripture does not teach this. Scripture teaches that God knows what we need even before we ask. Scripture teaches that the spirit prays for us with moans and groans that words can't describe....
No this ''contempletive prayer'' is new age yoga junk!!!!!!

Vic, this is something that has been on my heart lately. I have noticed how God is being politicized and made to be a great humanitarian, and now an environmentalist.
I feel that this is just another seducing spirit of this age.

RICK WARREN’S GLOBAL VISION, PURPLE HAZE, AND NEW AGE ASSOCIATION

PURPLE HAZE

Before Warren stated his new vision, he did something he said he had wanted to do for a long time. He sang Jimi Hendrix’s drug-drenched song “Purple Haze†to his congregation, accompanied by his “praise and worship†band! There has never been anything innocent or pure about rock and roll (not to speak of holy). From its inception it has had two grand themes: licentiousness (sex, drugs, etc.) and rebellion, and this is nowhere more evident than in the music of Jimi Hendrix.

I want to say publicly, “Shame on Rick Warren, and shame on his fellow Southern Baptist Convention leaders for not publicly rebuking him for such worldly shenanigans.â€Â

Re: Ken Blanchard and the New Age Movement

Dear Marty:

I have had the opportunity to review your comments regarding Ken Blanchard, his spirituality and the New Age Movement (hereinafter, NAM). As you read this, please keep in mind that I and others have spent a considerable amount of time researching this situation. As I offer the following for your consideration, please be assured that what you are about to read is only the tip of the iceberg.

First, I want to make it crystal clear that neither I nor my colleagues have anything personal against you, Ken Blanchard or Rick Warren. Because we are dealing with precious souls of whom Christ died for and the spiritual welfare of Christians, we take a serious look at the available information and act on it as the Lord directs.

Accordingly, if an individual, group or organization claims to be Christian, but detracts from the essentials of historic Christianity--and is found to be misleading the body of Christ--it is the calling and task of every Christian to reach-out in love, share the truth, defend the faith and, if necessary, expose deception.

Therefore, we have no desire, whatsoever, to misinform or mislead the body of Christ, fabricate lies, have our names in lights or sensationalize the issues we address and deal with. And, during the process, if anyone is offended, then let them be offended in love. Jesus Christ was and is our greatest example of love and compassion, yet He offended virtually everyone in His day.

He still does.
(This is such a true statement, I need to remember this...I added this in the blue)
Having not spoken to you, I will assume from the following quote that you are well aware of the danger and deception within the NAM, and the need for those caught up in a "New Age Church" to be saved:

"PS I happen to know that a 'New Age Church' up in Oregon implemented
the 40 Days of Purpose this last fall...and I absolutely applaud this. I hope and pray their people read and heard the truth, and come to a saving knowledge of Jesus. To have discovered this and banned them from participation, would have been a travesty and done nothing but create ill will, and not given the Holy Spirit an opportunity to impact hearts. My opinion..." (Marty Cutrone, "Re: pastor training programs," Challies.com, 2/26/04 8:55am, http://www.challies.com/archives/000124.php ).

I fully agree that those caught up in the NAM need the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, as long as that knowledge comes from the truths of God's word, that is (Romans 10:7). Afterall, there is another Jesus, another gospel and another spirit roaming in-and-out of the body of Christ, of which the Apostle Paul warns about in 2 Corinthians 11:3-4 and Galatians 1:6-9.

Certainly, solid, Bible-based books and materials serve their purpose, as long as they are doctrinally solid and Biblically-based. But nothing from the hand or mind of man superceeds the inspired word of God; the final authority. Nothing (Hebrews 4:12).

Now, with the above in mind, I direct your attention to the Hoffman Quadrinity Process, Bob Hoffman, the Hoffman Institue Board of Advisors and links for further research:

The Hoffman Quadrinity Process: the personal account of the Hoffman Quadrinity Process workshop, written by Tony Schwartz, "...bestselling author and a nationally recognized authority on performance, change and growth."

Source: http://www.tonyschwartz.com/new_age/my_ ... offman.htm
Source: http://www.tonyschwartz.com/index-1.htm
Bob Hoffman: (deceased), was the founder of the Hoffman Institute and the Hoffman Quadrinity Process, and was an integral part of the NAM:

"It is now 33 years since an American psychic named Bob Hoffman blended his own channelled and intuited insights with the psychological teachings of the noted neurologist and psychiatrist Dr Siegfried Fischer to create the Hoffman Quadrinity Process. To date more than 30 000 people have become Process participants" (emp. mine).

Source: http://www.hoffmaninstitute.co.uk/articles/detox.htm

"The list of Hoffman Process graduates is impressive and sometimes surprising. It includes the likes of international management guru Ken Blanchard and Apollo 14 astronaut Edgar Mitchell. It contains an abundance of psychiatrists (like TM doyen and author Harold Bloomfield) as well as professors of psychiatry" (ibid., emp. mine).

The Hoffman Institute Board of Advisors

"Ken Blanchard, Ph.D.
San Diego, CA
Chairman of Blanchard Training and Development, Inc., an international training company in business management. He is also a consultant and inspirational lecturer, author or co-author of 12 books including The One Minute Manager series. In addition, he is a visiting lecturer at Cornell University, where he serves as Trustee Emeritus."

Ken Blanchard's statements on the Hoffman Process:

"The Hoffman Process brings forth spiritual leadership in a person. It made my spirituality come alive. Through the Hoffman Process I actually brought my faith into my daily actions. Ken Blanchard, Ph.D. Chair, Blanchard Training and Development, Inc., Author of One-Minute Manager"

Source: http://www.hoffmaninstitute.org

"The Hoffman Process allows people to resolve many issues that they use to prop their character up, such as unproductive beliefs about themselves and other people, and the need to be controlling."--Ken Blanchard, Chairman of Blanchard Training and Development and author of the best-selling "The One Minute Manager" series of books.

Source: http://hoffmaninstitute.safeshopper.com/2/22.htm?592

For additional information and documentation, I direct your attention to the article, Ken Blanchard and the Hoffman Quadrinity Process .

Once you have taken the time to thoroughly review the above irrefutable documentation, there is more, and I will be glad to share it with you if necessary. However, if you are unwilling to do so, then I will assume you are either gullible, naive, could care less or purposely deceiving your colleagues and constituants-- and I won't waste my time or yours with follow up correspondence.

One thing is for certain, you have failed to put Ken Blanchard and his spirituality to the Biblical test (1 Thessalonians 5:21; 1 John 4:1), which is a Scriptural command for all Christians to read, heed and follow.

Whatever the case may be, the truth will stand up to investigation. While I love you in Christ and pray you are reachable, I hope you haven't developed the prideful, heart-numbing attitude of Don't confuse me with the facts, my mind is made up.

Thank you, Marty. I look forward to hearing from you at your earliest possible convenience. Please be informed that your reply will be subject to public scrutiny.

Sincerely in Christ,

Thank D and thanks for the link.

I've been taking a break and though I am still here, I will be cutting down on my posting and reading time. ...and administrative duties. I need to work more on a local level, starting with myself... and family. 8-)

I'm really troubled by what I am seeing all around us. While we may sit behind our keyboards and beat up on the likes of the RCC and other Orthodox faiths, the SDA and other sabbatarians, whether or not there will be some sort of rapture and when it will be, etc. we need to open our eyes to the less obvious things.

Yes, we do need to speak out against totally unneeded abortions, homosexuality and same sex marriages and all the other immoralities that plague society and the church. We need, however, to especially speak out about the dangers of this "seeker friendly" movement.

It is sucking in people from both the ecumenical and evangelical Christian sides like a black hole sucks in light. ...and where there is no light, there's only darkness.

I often refer to Matthew 13:31-33 and how I feel it relates to an unatural growth of the Church. We of the Body don't "lodge" in the branches, we are GRAFTED into the tree!

Further down, in Matthew 13:47-50, we read this:

Matthew 13:47 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind:
Matthew 13:48 Which, when it was full, they drew to shore, and sat down, and gathered the good into vessels, but cast the bad away.
Matthew 13:49 So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just,
Matthew 13:50 And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Think about it...

This in a nutshell is the major problem in our society today. Rick Warren for example is not just an average joe. He is a person who is ''one of the 25 most influential evangelicals'' according to these various reports. This evil that he preaches, reaches millions of people. The effects of which we will not see for years to come in many cases. Simply look at the company he keeps?

even the Calvary chapel folks have removed his books from their stores and have placed him with the emergent church cult.... This says allot, because they used to evangilize together. There is allot of Wisdom in what destiny said in her post...

I am but one voice, but if we get our voices together, we can do something.
