I was just wondering, why would Samson marry Delilah:dunno :shrug :confused.

The price of haircuts was very high those days...
:yes

Samson did marry a Philistine in a marriage that ended in disaster.
Then he turns around and goes after another Philistine women.
Some people never learn.

Men in particular. I call it the "Shiny Thing Syndrome (STS)." We are attracted to the flashy, bejeweled, shiny things in life, including women.

At least he could have gotten better women from his own people...if he had earnestly searched for one

In the bible, 1000 years BC
There's a story of ancient history
'Bout a fella who was strong as he could be
'Til he met a cheatin' gal who brought him tragedy

Oh, run Samson run, Delilah's on her way
Run Samson run, you ain't got time to stay
Run Samson run, on your mark you better start
I'd sooner trust a hungry lion
Than a gal with a cheatin' heart

She was a demon (was a demon)
A devil in disguise
He was taken (he was taken)
By the angel in her eyes
That lady barber (lady barber)
Was very well equipped
You can bet your bottom dollar
He was gonna get clipped

Oh, run Samson run, Delilah's on her way
Run Samson run, you ain't got time to stay
Run Samson run, on your mark you better start
I'd sooner trust a hungry lion

Oh, Delilah (oh, Delilah)
Made Sammy's life a sin
And he perished (and he perished)
When the roof fell in
There's a moral (there's a moral)
So listen to me pal
There's a little of Delilah
In each and every gal

Soooo, run Samson run, Delilah's on her way

Superb!

Men can be dumb....

Yes and No.

Most successful men are often weak with women. Just like Solomon, Samson fell in love with a foreign woman. Which is also why today we have successful men often have sex scandals behind them.

This is because, it is the same sex hormone 'testosterone' that makes a male dominant (or alpha male) compared to other males, refer: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/10097017

Thus, more 'testosterone' means more leadership/dominance but at the same time weak with women which will explain stupidity.

What about alpha males who are overloaded with testosterone and assume the leadership role, but who are also refined and suave, and know how to treat a lady?!

:D

Dominance among male peers does not mean they are savages and don't know how to treat a women.. they are already refined and able to attract ladies which is why they frequently fall into sex scandals ;)

Samson probably found somthing theat NEVER existed in Israel. That could be his reason...

People tend to want what they can't have.
Jewish law said you can't marry a Philistine.
Being bigger and tougher than everyone else, he did whatever he wanted.

It's interesting to note the similarities and differences between Samson and Jesus.

Similarities were:

Both their births were announced by angels.

They were both born to be deliverers of Israel.

They were dedicated to the Lord at birth.

They died tragic deaths.

They accomplished more in their death than in the days of their lives.

The differences were:

Samson was born with Gods' help to a childless couple. Jesus was born of a virgin.

Samson's life mingled the purposes of God with human weakness and sin. Jesus lived without sin.

Samson loved women to their harm. Jesus loved women and men for their good.

Samson died for his own sins. Jesus died for the sins of others.

Samson's accomplishments were temporary. Jesus' were eternal.
