Just wanted to tell you that I am appreciating these conversations....
It's not my way, but God's way. Once the prophecies were filfilled concerning the geneologies as in Luke and Matthew, then with the death of Christ, geneology is only important to one generation....
"Whose your Daddy?"
"Abba"... that's a name for God, meaning something like modern English for "daddy"... so, let me tell you again, for the Christian, geneologies are only important to one generation.
Of course they do, one is the royal line, one is the legal line.
You are confusing the "legal line" that it must be that Jesus is the son of Joseph and not the son of God... not at all.... If a man marries a woman who is carrying a child, the child will be his legal child even if it isn't his geological child.
Does that clear it up for you?

It's one of your biggest claims you make for the authenticity of Jesus. Admittedly it doesn't follow through anywhere to make the claim but that hasn't bothered Christians.serapha said:[
But... to the Christian, geneologies are not important... because to the Christian, it isn't important where we came from, what is important is that God in His great mercy reaches down in the muck and mire of sin and raises people out of the darkness and destruction of sin, God cleans them off and God makes something useful to the Kingdom out of each one of His adopted children.
Earthly geneologies aren't important any more.... being redeemed makes one adopted into the family of God, the heavenly family.
I hope that clarifies why geneologies were important in the Gospel accounts (to introduce Jesus)... but why they are not important to the Christian.... It doesn't matter where we came from, but where we are going... THAT requires a personal relationship with God.

However first you say that the geneologies were important. Well which is it? The fact is the geneologies don't support Jesus. If they do then Jesus is not the son of God. You are still trying to have it both ways. Sorry no can do! LOL
