Self Will vs the Human Spirit

Actually what I had in mind to write was 'free-will'. I was totally surprised that I actually wrote 'self-will'. It was after I read posts #17 & 18 (particularly 17) that I realised I had typed the wrong word. Honestly, I thought I had typed 'free-will'. It made me laugh to realise my typo.

I doubt if I had ever purposefully used such combination before. So, what exactly is self-will? How does it differ from my intend, free-will. Would love to know. Thanks. (Not trying to change the topic)

:toofunny :toofunny :toofunny :toofunny Self-will? I just noticed it now. Heavens!!! The OP Topic, I had Free-will in mind and not self-will. Im so sorry :shame
I must go to work but please explain how one can walk in "free-will" and not be in "self" will. If one walks according to what one is "free" to do, then they can are walking in ones "own" will, if one walks in Gods Will, they have surrendered their "own" will unto his. This is just basic common sense and those who hope to hold on to this unbiblical term are not being honest as it relates to what it means to "obey" Gods Will.

Sometimes when one says, I have free will they simply mean they have a choice. They have a choice and make choices to walk in the will of God (walk in the Spirit) rather than walking in the their will. They don't mean they are walking around in their free will rather than God's will.

We also have to recognize that as one matures in the Lord, they are in reality being conformed to the image of the Christ. If this is occurring then what they do by habit, becomes more and more like the Spirit that lives in them.
So we see that the Word of God is more powerful than a two-sword, their minds renewed by the Word of God and the workings of the Holy Spirit, conforming one into the image, of the Son.

I think sometimes one may think that repentance is all about some particular sinful act or thought. But repent, is bigger even than that, one must repent about the Savior. Repent and believe God. Change one's mind and believe God.
God is commanding all men everywhere to repent. Repent of what? Unbelief in the Savior, the Gospel message.

I think sometimes when we respond we Are doing what you say, responding to a particular doctrine that we think the other person is advocating. If we can set that aside, more than liking we can find common understanding that we can build on.
