But the bible is chock full of prophets, surely a palmist is a kind of prophet?

I personally wouldn't go to one, my path is straight and true thanks to the teachings of Jesus.

A false prophet or a "prophet" of Satan, but definitely not of God :nono

But, to play an advocates hand, who is to say who is false and who is not?

To reiterate, I find them ungodly, just nice to have a little discussion flowing through these old veins.

A prophet is a forthteller, not a forteller.

Aha, thanks for clearing that up.

I love this forum, I would not have known that were it not for you guys to help!

The bible tells us that a prophet is 100% right 100% of the time because his words are not his, but God's, know any palmists that can claim 100%, 100%? I think the real warning here is beware of what is not from God...

Maybe we need a modern day bible to be written now, so we can find out which palm readers and whatnot are operating on a 100% success rate. Surely its not too hards a stretch to beleive in that here are modern prophets working amongst us now in the time?

how about asking them to provide their success rate if you really believe they are from God?

Woah woah woah!

I do not believe that they are from God?! I have stated my stance on this case earlier in the thread. I find them to be ungodly, and would have nothing to do with them myself in the long run.

But the bible was relevant to its time in that the people in it were alive when it was written, but are dead now.

Do you see my point?

maybe, not sure, what does their physical status have to do with the question of prophets today? Do you think prophets have vanished from our lands? What of the prophets in Rev.?

see corithians 12, but if any man say thus saith the Lord, listen and pray and wait to see if the Lord truly said that, then if it comes to pass and bears fruit that glorifies the Lord, the it was a prophet indeed, but if not then either the propher was false or inerror, some people who have that gift often are honest in trying to say what lord says but they do make mistakes and if need be confront in love

not to derail on the gift of prohecy or a prophet

first thanks for a clearer understanding of what you intended...second, as I read this, I had a question...this discussion is centered on palm readers, so I go to wonder how many palm readers claim to be from God, doing this because of God, speaking God's words?

many do claim that they are but aren't first try this ask them about these things, jesus, hell, and angels, u know quickly as they dont(most) believe in hell or jesus is the son of god, and angels or fallen ones are referered to spirits of light pray and seek and only do that if u meet one on the street, no going to pay for services, as a witness is what i mean
