Free,

I'll give you an example: One person says that this is what MT. 23:10 means; "And you can be called teacher because there are many teachers besides Christ."

Another person says that this is what Jesus means; "And do not be called teacher for you have one teacher and that is the Christ."

Now since God isn't divided, he will not tell us different or opposite things. Thus, both interpretations can't be right. So which one do you think is right and why? :gah

If we are supposed to take it literally, just as it is written, as you suggest they are both correct. I think you just pointed out a great example of why scripture needs to be discussed and interpretted. You cannot often times take it just on face value. You have to dig a bit. I don't think most folks are digging to make it mean something it doesn't as their primary intent. They are seeking to understand.

If one doesn't understand scripture, he has to look to other scripture to understand it. Since Jesus knows more than any man, there is zero reason not to take him literally. His words also correspond with the myriad of other verses I quoted about not trusting in man.

So since there's zero scripture telling us to put our trust in human beings, especially secular human beings and much scripture telling is not to, then there's zero reason to not take Jesus literally in that passage.

Here's a question: What is the criteria that John gives us in 1 John 4:5-6 for recognizing the spirit of truth and the spirit of falsehood? :gah

Yes, that other thread was about higher education. My point in this thread is about how quoting a verse means that one is assuming a certain interpretation of that verse.
You have to know the difference between interpretation and belief. All one needs to understand is basic word vocabulary and grammar to believe the bible. But interpretation implies slanting the bible to suit one's desires. So again, my "interpretation" of MT. 23;10 is word for word what it says. So I'm not putting my own slant on it, I'm believing the words as written. if you don't know the difference, then you might as well throw the whole bible away and make up your own gospel. You can thus change the word "one' into "many", "several" or put any words in that you so desire. the only problem is, your words will pass away since the words of all humans pass away. Only God's words will remain for eternity. So it's a waste of time to put your own words into the bible which is why I don't do so.

So you need to read the bible with faith that it's true not doubt. Then you won't be tempted to disagree with him or put your own words in there and you'll have no problem understanding what Jesus means in MT. 23:10. :)
Okay, I understand what you are saying. You also said the following:

"The same with MT. 23 :10, My interpretation of; "and do not be called teacher for you have one teacher and that is the Christ is; "and do not be called teacher for you have one teacher and that is the Christ." Again, they are one and the same. ;)

So my reason for initiating a thread on "The Only Higher education" is because my interpretation of MT. 23;10 is the same as God's word itself. ;)"

From the above statements:

1. "So again, my "interpretation" of MT. 23;10 is word for word what it says. So I'm not putting my own slant on it, I'm believing the words as written."

2. "So my reason for initiating a thread on "The Only Higher education" is because my interpretation of MT. 23;10 is the same as God's word itself."

So my question to you, in light of both of your above statements, is: Where in Matt 23:10 is it word for word that it refers only to higher education?

if you believe Jesus that you only have one teacher and that is Christ, then why would you think that you should have other teachers? :o What is it about the word "one" that you don't understand? :confused

I understand your point about "one teacher". You stated in the other thread:

"First of all, elementary school isn't called higher education. It teaches people basic things like reading writing and the arithmetic they need to get through life."

My point is that you only apply Matt 23:10 only to higher education. You state that you only believe what the Bible says. I just need you to explain to me where in Matt 23:10 it states that it only applies to higher education and not "lower" education.

All one has to do is look at the horrible mess of the secular world to see that Jesus is right. It's ruled by Satan which means that it's ruled by sin. Those considered the "best" and the "brightest" minds don't know what's moral or immoral, what right and wrong are, what sin is, when life begins, why monkeys can't turn into people or even what marriage is!

The world's leaders argue, fight and kill each other and scientists change their minds all the time and disagree with each other! So why would you trust anything they say? :o And most importantly, why would you want to trust anything they say over what Jesus says? :screwloose do you know who rules the secular world? Or not? :o Do you know why Jesus tells us that we do not belong to the world? :gah

So as John tells us in 1 John 4:5, we recognize the spirit of truth and spirit of falsehood by worldly beliefs as opposed to godly beliefs. They are in conflict with each other because the secular world rejects Christ. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth and the secular world operates under the spirit of falsehood because it's run by Satan as John explains.

You aren't answering my question.

You aren't answering my question.

I already did. In my earlier posts I said that I take what secular elementary teachers say with a grain of salt. I also said that the higher the educators, the more the pride. Jesus tells us in MT. 11:25-27, "I thank you good Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for having hidden these things from the wise and learned and revealing them to little children. For that was your good pleasure."

So you need to read 1 Corinthians chapter 1...all of it, to see why God is humbling the proud and frustrating the "intelligence of the intelligent." You should be able to see that by the mess of the secular world even if you don't believe the bible.

My question was why does Matt 23:10 apply only to higher education and not other education?

Matthew 23:10 applies to believing Jesus over any man which you should also know if you claim to be a follower of Christ.
