Should Christians use karate for self defense?

Begginer level but you gain fight up, a fellow fighter did that a beat a blue belt. They do have weight divisions as well and 18+, and under 18 as well, i found out for sure

can us non pacifists chime in as well? lol aikido is considered the pacifist art and yet it even says that even done correcty some attackers will die.

Violence is never the best answer. If possible, any form of altercation should be avoided at all costs. Jesus' way is the way of peace. However, I cannot lie and say that it would be easily practiced on my part if my son's life were in the middle. There is little I would not do for my son's safety.

Sure.
Reason being is that knowing Karate a person might know how to stop an attacker quickly without having to really hurt them much.
It could be the best route for everyone involved.

I was thinking aikido.
Definitely a way to deal with an attacker without having to hurt them too badly.

No if taught with off balence and correctly you will break limbs, The art that i'm ranked in has had students that have knocked people out from hitting thier head on the asphalt..Not that this a cure all art. All others can claim that as well..

most martial arts are taught that way, even bjj.

No doubt of that. One of my favorite...well....two of my favorite actors or male figures on screen know so form of martial arts. Those being:

Chuck Norris
Jackie Chan

Just do not like the idea of ever having to use the physical strength of one's own body to harm another. Things should never come down to that, though they regretably do, more often than not.

jackie chan does and choy lee fut , not very practical, but he used it for entertainment. You do know that he showed Bruce Lee how use the martial arts flashy kicks to make his movies. Chan aint young.Been around since the late 60's.

I agree with this! :thumb

Best way I've found is preparedness, avoidance, and awareness.

Unfortunately, I've never witnessed good aikido. What I've seen has been compliant hokey. :shrug

You could look at it that way I suppose. I prefer to see things differently.

If someone forces you to take physical action then the resulting injuries are their fault. If someone breaks into my home what happens to them is their fault, if someone tries to carjack me what happens is their fault,etc.... Ever watch those high speed chases? The bad guys are charged with any and all damage that occurs, even if the cop hits a pole because of bad driving. Since the bad guy started the whole thing, everything that follows is their own fault.

Trust me, I share your views. Just honestly eager for the day in which the war is over. Where temptation no longer has effect...where sin no longer reigns supreme and pain is no more. Heaven is truly something worth waiting, praying, and being faithful for.
