Should Christians watch the Texas Chainsaw Massacre? Is it too bloody for Christians to be watching?Would it be Biblical? Would Jesus approve?

for me no, i will state why i wont, after the my tour in combat i felt that looking at death as entertainment was sick, i saw enough death and grew callous , and i dont want to again, imo no but in this area its between themselves and the lord.Fembot said:I think whatever you let into your conscience resonates in your soul. I know that it is evil to delight in watching someone's torture.I'm usually more scared than delighted while watching horror films. Why put myself through fear purposely, though? God doesn't want us to fear...
But it's fun sometimes. Like roller coasters...
If we remind ourselves that it's not real and close our eyes during the love scene (almost every movie has a love scene) then is it wrong? I don't know this answer...
i have a no problem with violence shown in a proper context , and i was only adressing the entertainment of violence,ie kill bill. not to judgeFembot said:Then the emotions it stirs up isn't good for us. But it may be possible to separate reality from fiction and remind yourself that God would not torture us this way. Not everything in the world is peaches and cream. When I look at the torture of people in certain African nations-I know that IT IS REAL-I feel that it is my right to know what is happening to people out there. Then I pray and ask God to release the emotions that were stirred up. I ask Him to help me accomplish what I am here to do in order to make a change in the world, so that these people can endure through faith in Christ.

p.t.s.d works like that as my healing has come in increments, i hate violence, now in country i never killed but the seeing of two to three yrs old marred by abuse or being slaughtered by the taliban( those kids were older), tends to to get to u, i can look at a dead body and watch live surgery, by detaching my feelings( ie shutting them off) and i hate to do that as that is survival mechanism and it comes at high cost.Fembot said:jasoncran said:i have a no problem with violence shown in a proper context , and i was only adressing the entertainment of violence,ie kill bill. not to judgeFembot said:Then the emotions it stirs up isn't good for us. Yes, kill bill is too gory. Texas is worldly. Sometimes it's just best to take things with a grain of salt. We're gonna face things that remind us of pain. But letting it control us is unhealthy.

every see the mini series band of brothers remember what the lt said( the one killed the german pows after they smoked a cigarette) if ur a dead u have no fear or regrets to do what must be done, that rings true to many , i chose not be like that but some areas aren't black and white in combat and that's why the conflict in my spirit that only jesus can heal.
You're right, and neither do i. But lets face the facts, that's what It (movies) are. Because i watch a movie, does not necessarily mean i am "filling" my head with such stuff.Relic said:.
I don't know about you but I don't live by the worlds standards of "entertainment".
Just because the "worldly" label it as Entertainment doesn't mean that Christians are supposed to accept it as "entertainment" It is nothing but vile and perverted garbage. Foul mouthed comedy is considered "entertainment" to some people, does that make it okay?
Again,
Where does it teach us in the bible to fill our minds with images of murder, horror, torture, gore, violence and other satanic activities?
Where in the bible does it teach us to entertain visions of such garbage?
What, are we part time Christians putting the things of God aside while we go off to watch the things of the devil?
is it the Holy Spirit that prompts you to watch such garbage?
Garbage In ... Garbage Out.
