Should Churches have concert style worship services? You know, where the music sounds like modern rock music, the lights, etc.?

.

Psalm 150

1 Praise the LORD.
Praise God in his sanctuary;
praise him in his mighty heavens.

2 Praise him for his acts of power;
praise him for his surpassing greatness.

3 Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet,
praise him with the harp and lyre,

4 praise him with tambourine and dancing,
praise him with the strings and flute,

5 praise him with the clash of cymbals,
praise him with resounding cymbals.

6 Let everything that has breath praise the LORD.
Praise the LORD.

Looks like concert-style worship is what pleases the Lord, but ultimately God looks at our hearts more than anything.

Why not, there is nothing in scripture against it.

I agree, and I do like those kind of worship services, but I also like the more 'intimate' services as well. Depends what mood I'm in.

The only thing about the worship services that I think is dangerous is you worshipping the band on stage or the service more than God. That could easily happen IMO, as long as that's not happening and God is the one being worshipped, then go for it! :)

I like the idea of people presenting God with a complex, skilled, talented performance. Its frustrating to me to see the church using 3 chord songs that all have the same progression and any one can play, then I turn around and see a Secular band play with more talent and skill for their own amusement.

I think to worship God means you present him with your 'BEST lamb' as in the days of old when the BEST animal was chosen to be given as a sacrifice.

Music is generally subjective as to what sounds good, just opinion but its no opinion hat some music has AMAZING SKILL behind it and other music does not. If I was God i would want the most skilled people playing for me using their talent as appreciation OF their talent.

i see no problem as long one stays focused on god not the band playing, like Nick says
