Simple or Complicated

There are two ways to go about life.

First, you can simply do this:

From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." Matt 4:17 RSV

If you’d rather, you can create a complicated theology that fills volumes and volumes and never quite works.

Gods word is easy enough for a child to understand it so why complicate that which is simple understanding with that of mans theology, terminology and traditional doctrines. God said it, I believe it and that's good enough for me.

I believe you probably could operate on a few basic principles, perhaps even just one as you suggest. Nevertheless, the outworking of this in a persons daily life is invariably made complicated by the variety of circumstances and constraints that confront us when we try to live this principle out. Thus the volumes of theology that may be written. I do not believe that the two are contradictory. Rather, it seems possible that they are rather complementary in their approaches.
