Growth Sitting at Jesus Feet

"She had a sister called Mary, who also sat the Jesus' feet and heard His word." Luke 10:39

Do you know that studies show that walking speeds have increased by an average of 10 percent in the last 20 years? I can't imagine why this has happened, but I can only speculate that we live in a world with a faster pace of life than before.

Today, we see Jesus who had stopped at the home of Martha and Mary to refresh and get a meal. Martha was very worried about the service. She went right to work getting everything ready so her Lord and his servants would have something good to eat.

Mary, however, chose a different path. She chose to set at the masters feet and hear his word. When Martha asked the lord to intervene, He gently reminded Martha that Mary had chosen "the good part." (Luke 10:42)

In this fast paced world we now live in, do you take the time to sit at Jesus feet and take in "the good part" or are you like Martha who scurries around worrying about what serving her guests?

In our drive to productive for the Lord and others, we need to do one thing worth being concerned about, enjoying time with Jesus.

I think you're right sister. We should all be on our knees at jesus's feet right now developing our relationship with Him and getting to know Him. We are early in the morning of the seventh day since creation. (1 day is as 1000 years to the Lord). So this is the Sabbath. It is the Lords work, and He is right at the door...we should be at rest, getting to know Him.

Along the same lines as 1000 yrs= 1 day, we are also early in the morning of the 3rd day since the flood., right? We all know what happened early in the morning of the 3rd day after Jesus was crucified. He rose up! He did a few things, and then went home. Time is short brothers and sisters. Time to make sure we have plenty of oil in our lamps.

realize in Jewish Scripture (the Bible), Yeshua was crucified on the 4th day, buried just before sunset, spent 3 days and 3 nights in the tomb, and was raised from the grave by Yhwh just at sunset on Shabbat. ("just before the 'dawning'/ beginning of the 1st day" in english translations --- Jewish days begin at sunset, so 1st day began at the end of Shabbat)

in oklahoma, today is 2nd day(OOPSY- it's 3rd day already- it's nighttime already, forgot cause i just got home from a job a little while ago), 7th day starts sunset of the 6th day......

(((yes, I know you meant something else, and no I don't disagree nor agree as i haven't thought about that )))

I don't know all about the speculation of days and times and such, but I do believe we are in the last days. Maybe the reason why we live such hectic lives is because we need to live close to Jesus now more than ever and the devil is doing his best to stop us from doing that. With all the distractions we have it is difficult to sit at Jesus feet.

Psalms 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

If we do not make time for God then he will not make time for us. Give Him the first part of everyday and His blessings will carry you through the day.

Agreed, it is hard. I never thought about the days thing before either, but in a sermon from a pastor he spoke of it. That everything is a type and shadow in the OT of the NT, and went on to speak of the days and so forth. This sounds just like God to do these things and to give us small clues throughout the bible to just about everything. A lifetime of scripture study can not reveal it all! New facets of the truth are seen every day by someone, especially now, here in these last days when knowledge will be increased. it makes sense to me.

the increase in knowledge IS NOT knowledge of Yhwh or Yeshua - it is knowledge of the world - and Yhwh's Word on that is written.
of Yhwh's Word, instead of increase, there is a famine in the wearing (sic/ "hearing") of the Word of Yhwh. - people are not seeking Him, and even those who claim 'religion' are not listening to Him, and indeed cannot. they fail to "turn their affections to things above and not of the earth." so they can't even see the kingdom of heaven.
for the remnant, it is the hardest days now in many ways. troubles all around, persecution, oppression, wickedness all around - driving the righteous nearly crazy like as Lot in s and g.....

the Promise of Yhwh is sure. the people who turn to Him away from earthly lusts and from sin, are rare. He watches dearly over us all.

Choose Life Kenneth Copeland

For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. - Romans 8:6

If you were given the choice between life and death, which would you choose? The answer seems obvious. But, in reality, it's not.

You see, choosing death doesn't necessarily mean jumping from the nearest cliff. It's much more subtle than that.

The Bible says death is being carnally minded, being entangled in this present worldly realm. The Bible also tells us what life is. "My son, attend to my words," says Proverbs 4:20-22, "...for they are life!"

To be worldly-minded is death. To be Word-minded is life.

In Luke 10, there's a story that illustrates this principle extremely well. It's the story of Mary and Martha. You probably remember it. Mary was sitting at Jesus' feet listening to Him teach while Martha was bustling around in the kitchen cooking dinner for everyone.

Finally Martha couldn't stand it anymore. She came to Jesus and said, "Lord, don't you care that my sister has left me to do all the work myself? Tell her to help me!" Jesus answered, "Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her" (Luke 10:41-42).

Mary had set everything else aside, so she could hear the Word. But Martha had let the seemingly important business of living take priority over the Word. She'd chosen death, not life.

You see how easy it is to slip into that?

"But Brother Copeland," you say, "if I didn't spend all my time taking care of the business of living, my life would fall apart!"

Oh, really? Martha probably thought that too. She probably thought if she didn't cook dinner for all those folks, they'd go hungry. But they wouldn't have. Jesus had miraculously fed multitudes before and He could have done it again in Martha's home. She could have plopped herself down at Jesus' feet, and they could have had a banquet at God's expense!

Don't make the mistake that Martha did. Don't get so entangled in the business of living that you choose death by default. Decide to put the Word first place. Choose life!
