Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow

I already suspect that I'm going to get blasted, but it's quickly become one of my sons (and my) favorites. Done in a style that is reminiscent of the 30's and 40's, it's fun, imaginative, filled with acclaimed actors, enough robots and other cool stuff for anyone. This movie will long be remembered because it is the first of a new genre. With very few exceptions, it's all CGI other than the actors themselves. Soon to be the movie making wave of the future. Set designers had better become computer savvy, in a hurry. Aside from all that, it's a fun escape for 106 minutes.

No blasting here. :D
As someone who has a large collection of various pulp and early sci-fi authors on my shelves, I cannot express how much I loved this film.
You are correct, CGI backgrounds are becoming the future of film making and this will be the one people point to as leading the way.

BTW, the person who wrote and directed Sky Captian, is currently working on the first movie version of Edgar Rice Burroughs' The Princess of Mars.

How sweet it is. I can't wait. Nice to meet another videophile.

My kids (girls age 9 & 11) loved this movie. I liked it because of how it portrayed the past's vision of the future. The corss over of past morality with today's acceptance was interesting as well. It was a fun story in which I didn't feel the need to say "Why didn't they spend a little research money to get some of the physics right."

Of course, I'm still waiting for a proper Doc Savage movie. I hope that with the slowly renewing interest in both film noir and pulp related material some of the classic characters will finally be brought to the big screen.

i loved it. i love whats his name anyways,i cant spell his name! i thought the action was cool too and angelina jolie was classic.

A few weeks ago I sat down and watched this with a 9 year old nephew while his folks went to take care of some family business. I don't know who enjoyed the movie more. lol

But we had a great time together watching it.

it really is cool even if the effects at times are not up to what some people want today. it's like watching old sci fi. :)
