and pretty much failed miserably. I did ok, but not as good as I wanted to. :(

For those who don't know what a digital fast is, it is...no TV, no computer, no smart phones or tablets, and no screen at all. And you should unplug the household WiFi and router also to give yourself a break from the signals from it.

But I forgot to do that at first and accidentally went online. Then I remembered and shut it off, but not my phone. I felt I had to at least leave the phone line open in case someone called who needed help with something. Money is pretty thin these days and I could use a little side job here and there, lol.

I al,most made it the rest of the way, but today, my neighbor called, can I fix his furnace for him. He has kids and it's been cooler so I didn't want to put him off. and I had to look up his part that he needed because, they're pretty poor and every dollar savings for him is more money for his family. SO here I am today again.

Overall, I can feel a difference in not watching internet and screens most of the day now. I am clearly thinking better and I'm certain that it was beneficial for me!

The physical part of not doing it was the easy part. It was the psychological aspect which hounded me throughout! It got sort of difficult a few times.

I think God honored your helping this man out by having to use digital for that purpose, probably more than you just deciding to give all that up for a time as what you did for this man is God's true fast.

I've read other scriptures like Exodus 34:28 and Daniel 10:2,3 that talk about going without food and drink even for forty days and also our fast should be done in secret not to be told of or seen by others as we prostrate our self before the Lord in prayer, but when I read Isaiah 58 especially vs.3-7 I see nothing there of giving up food or drink or even material possessions, but only that of God's pure religion that James spoke of in James 1:27.

I see fasting to be like you did in going before the Lord in prayer without any distractions, but in helping this man giving of yourself unselfishly while you were fasting. Maybe we put to much emphasis on what we chose to give up for a time more than the purpose of spending time in prayer just talking to God and drawing closer to Him to know His perfect will in our life.

It is supposed to be done in secret. But we're sort of in learning mode too here on the forum so bringing an experience or two to the table could be edifying to more people, and interesting to discuss too. The more that I fast, the more that I learn about it.

Now I am realizing that...in the same way that the flesh body was designed to eat to sustain itself (so food was given us), not eating food for a season also sustains us (so fasting was given us). And your flesh body will tell you when it is time to fast again.

Fasting from food is just as important for the flesh body as food is. It's just done less than eating overall. Where I have said before that fasting is like leaving the car parked in the garage, it's actually more than that. It's like a tune up to the flesh. The detoxifying and cleansing effects upon the body is a tune up to your immune system!

I did that once...a digital fast.
And that was the toughest twenty two seconds of my life. :bath
