Soma-Sight was wrong

I have extensively studied the Bible lately and have realized that it stands alone as the Word of God. (thats why I have not posted in a long time)

I am done with "other religions" and played devil's advocate to test my faith to the point of breaking.

Jesus stands alone as the Son of God and I cannot reconcile the things other religions say about Jesus and His signs and miracles on earth with what scripture plainly states.

I can admit when I am wrong and now is the time.

There is no other "god" to put your Faith in in terms of Salvation.

Not Buddha, not Krishna, not Allah.

I believe other cultures have shades of the Light but not the full blown reality that is found in Jesus Christ of the Gospel account.

I dont agree with a lot of the actions, sayings and attitudes of Christians I meet but that DOES NOT TAKE AWAY FROM THE TRUTH OF SCRIPTURES AS I SEE IT.

I have fallen into the trap of judging the Bible and God based on fellow Christians and that is a mistake.

I URGE CHRISTIANS TO EXTENSIVELY STUDY OTHER RELIGIONS HOWEVER BECAUSE IT MAKES YOU A VALUABLE WITNESSING TOOL AND GIVES YOU A MUCH BROADER PERSPECTIVE ON "WHY" YOU BELIEVE IN THE SON OF GOD.

I think that's unfortunate...

Personally I feel that the world's scripture are each a cultural lense through which the same divine reality is being viewed...each approach it in different ways. There are days when I am moved by the covenant relationship of Yahweh and his people, days when the identity of Christ revealled in death strikes me as having particular mystical significance.
...Days when devotion to Krishna and the beauty of the Gita and its propositions about that inner reality we call Atman seem to overwhelm me with joy and hope....and days when the stark simplicity of Buddha's practical approach to freedom almost bring me to tears.

Its not that one is higher than another....but as the Rig Veda says:

"Truth is one, but men call her by many names"

Krishna is Christ...Christ is Krishna, both are the Buddha as the Buddha is them and they, in turn, are us all.

Together, the scriptures of the world reveal our darkest capacity and our supreme potential.

You are the devils child and you will soon be with your father unless you repent.

Yes, the Devil is my father....but God is my Mother who gives birth to the One within me. By accpeting her baptism the deceptor is renounced...

...I am both a child of the Devil and of God, as are we all. The Devil is my prison and God, my freedom. One must meet them both to reconcile the fragmentation of their being.

Shalom Soma! :D

I salute your courage 8-)

I shared on Mon how an Italian evangelist, (who will team with the renowned Gypsy Will to lead Elim April '07 Butlins Minehead conference seminars @ outreach), gave a similar message on Sun am @ Bootle Christian Centre :P

I played the CD of the message again Sun eve

I'm almost sure Ennio is @ Kensington Temple next Sun :multi:

His wife, Jane, grew up just a few hundred yards from where I lived from age 0-7 & a couple who live just a short way from there now travel to Bootle each Sun am & Wed eve, & we sure thank Elim National Evangelism Director, Paul Epton, for releasing them from Wirral Christian Centre where author Geoff was Admin for years - to help this young, fast-growing church

Would you recommend our Other Religions Forum here to study how to reach those trapped in them, readers?

If not, it is likely you may know retired pastors/missionaries who would find a whole new lease of life & ministry right here

I'll end with the promo I just used in the excellent acoustics between Lime Street & this Central Library @ 20 minutes ago, as a huge student guided tour party were in earshot..

with bonus extras just for you & those you love & care about.. :o

While I stand more with AHIMSA, than with the rest of you, I don't believe all religions of this world are different paths to the truth. I believe there is truth in other religions as well as Christianity, but no one religion is perfect.

However, I am glad Soma-Sight has found what he was looking for.

Shed the garbage that you are mixed up in, follow Soma-Sights lead, and believe the Word of God.

(John 14:6) Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

That is enough to find your way to heaven...Throught Christ "Alone", no other way!!

(Hebrews 2:3) How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;

That took guts, Soma, and my hat's off to you!! That's very commendable to say the least.

AHIMSA, you'd make a good non-denominationalist as I don't think you know what you believe.

Soma-Sight

May the Lord bless you and Keep you. May he be your refuge always, may he keep you in the shadows of his wings.

Soma-Sight, thank you for sharing where you are and what you now feel about the Scriptures; the Word of God.

Now allow the Sprit of the Lord, the Holy Spirit, to fill you and then guide you, lead you as you learn more and more about our Lord Jesus Christ, the true living Word.

God bless you.

Gary

I am encouraged deeply by your post, Soma-Sight. It excites me and confirms that the Word of God does not return void. Keep up the studying of the Word and be transformed with the mind of Christ Jesus, not being conformed to the world.
God bless you and yours,
Michael

Why? So I can worship a God who plans to torture most of humanity for all eternity?

C'mon, now, let's not derail the thread...

Soma-Sight, you are a highly respected member on this website in my book. I'm glad you have found your niche in your religion and are now comfortable and at peace. God bless you.

No, so you can worship a God who sent his only son to die in your place so that you could have eternal life instead of everlasting punishment.

I am not advocating any particular denomination at this point.

I think each person needs to seriously study the Bible for himself/herself apart from any sort of denomination and pray for the Spirit to lead them.

There are still certain doctrines that many hold here that I do not personally agree with, but I do believe in the BIG POINTS that most Christians proclaim.

1. Start with Jesus Christ and end with Jesus Christ. The whole Bible points to and points back to His life as revealed and WITNESSED by others.

2. Find peace in His Law. I realized I needed to keep my life simple and follow the Ten simple rules that He gave man FOR A REASON. I stopped drinking, looking to other gods and violating the Ten Commandments for the past 3 months and I feel PEACE like I have not experienced in quite some time!

3. Find peace in His Grace. I still make mistakes but am mindful of them. I put myself in positions to where I dont have to be tempted to make mistakes and constantly ask for forgiveness. No bars, no clubs, no "sinners hangouts" that will even put me in the position to do what my heart knows is wrong. But ultimately I know I am not saved by my works but Salvation is guaranteed to those that OBEY Him and recieve GRACE.

REPENT! (of sins)

Matthew 3:2
and saying, "REPENT, for the kingdom of heaven is near."

RECEIVE GRACE! (through the Son of God)

Acts 15:11

No! We believe it is through the GRACE of our Lord Jesus that we are saved, just as they are."

OBEY! (Biblical precepts grounded in the Ten Commandments)

Psalm 119:34

Give me understanding, and I will keep your law and OBEY it with all my heart.

SIMPLE THREE STEPS TO A HAPPY LIFE AND NEW HOPE!

Why? So I can worship a God who plans to torture most of humanity for all eternity?

Many Christians do not agree with the doctrine of eternal torture but do agree that the RESULTS of the Second Death are eternal.

I personally have studied the three typical views on hell and think Annihilationism is Biblically the most sound.

No, so you can worship a God who sent his only son to die in your place so that you could have eternal life instead of everlasting punishment.

Your statements are illogical and candy-coated.

God created the Universe
God created Humanity
God created Hell
God hates anything that is not as perfect as He is.
God holds all of humanity responsible for their imperfection.
God chooses to send Souls to hell.
God decides to be a little humane and send His Son to redeem a small fraction of Mankind

You are acting like God is forced to send people to hell, and He is such a saint for saving us, when He is the one who is killing us in the first place.
