I ask God to forgive me of my sins, and then I thank Him for doing so.The only thing with me is that I find myself thanking God for His forgiveness, rather than asking if He will forgive me. Maybe it's just semantics to some people, but it's a remembrance mindset to me, and it seems to be an important matter.
But, that's just me.
He did that 34 years ago. Well, actually, about 2,000 years ago, I only accepted it 34 years ago.I ask God to forgive me of my sins, and then I thank Him for doing so.
I am trying to spend more time praying for other people, especially when they ask. God wants us to bring our petitions to him and for other people.
Slide on down to verse 12. This is only one place where we are told our sins are forgiven. This is not meant to tell us that we are OK, as of noon today, but we better be begging for forgiveness if we screw up any more, because Jesus' blood won't cover that unless we ask for forgiveness all over again.Well, the Bible tells me if I sin, that I should ask God for forgiveness, and He will forgive me and cleanse me, so that is what I do.
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness
I don't need to beg, but I do admit and agree with God that what I had done was wrong.Slide on down to verse 12. This is only one place where we are told our sins are forgiven. 1 John is a good book to get under your belt, in its entirety.
With all due respect to everyone here, I can not imagine my life without prayer. Prayer is powerful. Even Jesus went off by himself to pray, he prayed so hard he sweat blood. This is how we should pray as well not that we are sweating blood, but earnestly to seek His face.
That's how I see it.
As I said, listen to Chris' teaching. You are arguing things you don't have to.I don't need to beg, but I do admit and agree with God that what I had done was wrong.
I'm not going to stop admitting to God and asking for forgiveness to Him, it helps me in my walk, it's a chance to talk to Him privately. It's the best part of my day because it's not the only thing I pray for. Sometimes there is no sin to admit to - as far as I know anyway. I like praying to God, I don't do it out of obligation nor do I see as a ritual (if other people do, that's there problem), but for me this is a chance to talk to Him and for me to listen to Him also.
