Speakiing of getting "prayer" just right...

The only thing with me is that I find myself thanking God for His forgiveness, rather than asking if He will forgive me. Maybe it's just semantics to some people, but it's a remembrance mindset to me, and it seems to be an important matter.
But, that's just me.
I ask God to forgive me of my sins, and then I thank Him for doing so.

I am trying to spend more time praying for other people, especially when they ask. God wants us to bring our petitions to him and for other people.

I just saw this question and thought it appropriate for this thread - we better start adding thankfulness to our prayers!

"If you woke up tomorrow only with the things that you have prayed and thanked God for, what would you have?

He did that 34 years ago. Well, actually, about 2,000 years ago, I only accepted it 34 years ago.

And, to be Biblically accurate about it, He did that even before the foundations of the Earth.

Well, the Bible tells me if I sin, that I should ask God for forgiveness, and He will forgive me and cleanse me, so that is what I do.

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness

Slide on down to verse 12. This is only one place where we are told our sins are forgiven. This is not meant to tell us that we are OK, as of noon today, but we better be begging for forgiveness if we screw up any more, because Jesus' blood won't cover that unless we ask for forgiveness all over again.
1 John is a good book to get under your belt, in its entirety.

I don't need to beg, but I do admit and agree with God that what I had done was wrong.

I'm not going to stop admitting to God and asking for forgiveness to Him, it helps me in my walk, it's a chance to talk to Him privately. It's the best part of my day because it's not the only thing I pray for. Sometimes there is no sin to admit to - as far as I know anyway. I like praying to God, I don't do it out of obligation nor do I see as a ritual (if other people do, that's there problem), but for me this is a chance to talk to Him and for me to listen to Him also.

{the formal thing we call "prayer" each day? } if all one does is go through a formality of prayer .yes its a waste of time. the Bible says men should pray and faint not .prayer is a communication to our father.. i have read and dealt with this kind of post many times. no conviction from the holy spirit God is only love and life is peaches and cream. fact is there is conviction there is a wrath of God and life is full of trial and tribulations. its what makes us stronger . it is absolutely silly to even hint suggest praying is a waste of time and not needed .sad

With all due respect to everyone here, I can not imagine my life without prayer. Prayer is powerful. Even Jesus went off by himself to pray, he prayed so hard he sweat blood. This is how we should pray as well not that we are sweating blood, but earnestly to seek His face.

That's how I see it.

Amen Jessse,
Prayer is nothing to be taken lightly, it changes things and set's people free. Hmm Daniel went through this kind of thing too. However Daniel had some insight that I see some do not have. Stop Daniel from praying, not a chance, I mean you might as well say he just opened up the window and yelled out listen to this and prayed. lol But then again Daniel controlled Babylon and NOT king Nebuchadnezzar.

If you think I am talking non sense then look it up for your self but you might have to read and study and oh pray too. Now then Prayer is a lot of things. Yea you can simply just talk to God and that works too but I would not want to limit it to just that way only. God is Holy and Majestic and Righteous and we should respect this big time.

Most see prayer as a requirement but could it not be said much better as a Privilege that our Loving Creator thee most High God has given us ? Prayer is not to be taken lightly at all. Lets see they took it out of schools and do you really have to think to figure out who was behind that? So I say yes talking to or with God is a very wonderful prvilege BUT humbling ourselves and using His word and praying to Thee Most Holy God is more then just speaking words. It's Loving our Heavenly Father and opperating with His every word and it PLEASES HIM !!

When God said if my people will humble them selves and pray and seek my face.......do you think He was saying hey come on guys lets just shoot the breeze awhile ? Any one or Anything that limits prayer is not getting this from God in any way shape or form...Hmmm whose left then? It comes from our enemy the devil who comes to STEAL, KILL AND DESTROY.... Wow getting beleivers to think that a true and holly prayer is not needed any more but to just shoot the breeze, well it aint hard to see what that is......Killing, Destroying and Stealing......

Praise God We Can Pray Honest Prayers
Jim

As I said, listen to Chris' teaching. You are arguing things you don't have to.
