This is a topic I don't see people talk about much and it is actually a very important topic because we face it everyday but do we know how to deal with it?

one thing I wish the church did was prepare people for spiritual warfare because there is an old saying that says if the devil is coming after you you must be doing something right. well do we know how to face the devil when this time comes? Because sometimes as simple as it may sound just saying the name Jesus is enough other times it requires dedicated prayer other times still we have to stand in the authority Christ gave us and command the attacks or demons to be gone

But and this is a big but it isn't always easy to do sometimes people have even gotten very ill from the battle or their lives fall apart in front of their eyes and sometimes it can leave one scarred inside, and unable to do it as well from the experience. Sometimes it overtakes them completely and they simply cannot do anything but cry out to Jesus to rescue them.

Does anyone here know how severe and sometimes terrifying spiritual warfare can be? What was your experience and how did you deal with it?

oh very much so . for me its contending with Contentious attitudes that are without reason. people believe what they want to believe regardless of what the bible says.

The most powerful thing you can do in your spiritual war is denying your flesh. Our primary spiritual combat isn't against Satan or any demonic forces. It is against our own sinful nature.

Our fight isn't against Satan or evil spirits. It is against the humans. All the apostles were murdered by the humans, Jesus himself also. I never seen Satan to come and do anything to a single human being, but humans do. They also killed all the saints (the martyrs). Which are the real saints.

I don't see any Bible passages yet on this thread. Here's the main one, which I will quote in full (Ephesians 6:10-20):

Eph 6:10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.
Eph 6:11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.
Eph 6:12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.
Eph 6:13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.
Eph 6:14 Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness,
Eph 6:15 and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace.
Eph 6:16 In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one;
Eph 6:17 and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God,
Eph 6:18 praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints,
Eph 6:19 and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel,
Eph 6:20 for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak.

First, notice that we must fight in God's strength, not our own (verses 10-11).

Second, we don't fight against people at all, but we do fight the devil and the demons (verse 12).

Third, we fight with God's soldier equipment (verses 13-17).

Fourth, we fight with persistent prayers for Jesus' victory on behalf of ourselves and other believers (verses 18-20).

The scriptures themselves say that we fight againstthe spiritual not the flesh For we are not contending against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places." Some translations say "our struggle is not against flesh and blood".

I dunno 🤷‍♂️

I do believe that being in Christ leads to some degree of…conflict…in the spiritual realm and in the here and now. That’s my understanding of the Bible at any rate. I just get a bit uncomfortable with an emphasis on spiritual warfare as somehow a distinct aspect of the Christian life…

It may be uncomfortable but it is a real reality as a believer in Christ, But there is no need to worry or fear because you have the authority of Christ in you and any demonic powers or spiritual warfare has no power over you in fact you have power over them I have seen this personally myself.

I wish that the church was taught more about this and how to deal with it because like you it makes people uncomfortable or they have no idea what spiritual warfare actually is and how to deal with it

Everyday we battle against the enemy and his minions temptation lust envy that small whispers of doubt or self loathing the lies telling you your not good enough or your not doing as good as you should ect.

Every negative thought is a whisper from the enemy which is why we are told to take captive every thought

I have read the Bible, so I knew this verse but said what I said no matter of the verse.

George, this paramount to saying "I have read the Bible but I do not believe it."

How does one refer to Himself as a believer in God when he does not believe His word?

Yes. I've gotten so beaten down spiritually that there was nothing left in me to pray. Numerous times, actually.

Wrote a thread on it at the beginning of the year. Christmas Eve 2024 was one of the worst nights of my life; probably the worst. Thank God for His strengthening, or there are many times when we would not make it.

I know God exists. But God cannot be put in a book.

Well if you want to go against the scriptures I suppose that is your decision but as a general rule we as believers are suppose to have the bible as our one truth not our opinions

I have also been overtaken by spiritual battles to the point I ran away from the demon crying but that was also the day when I felt God's power for the first time. After I ran away when I came back to my apartment I received a laying of hands because I brought someone to help me with the demon, but the demon was gone and he said to me this isn't from me this is from God and he laid his hands on me, and I felt God's power so much I was just stunned and unable to move just smiling

But since then I have been more adept to spiritual battles, and sent demons back to hell and learned about the authority we have in Christ

I am not believer in God. I believe in myself.

Well, in that case George, it means you are only allowed to post in Questions and Answers if you want to know about the faith. Non-believers are not allowed to post in the Theology forum or anywhere else except Q&A here.

Blessings.
