Even though I preach "we war not against flesh"
You still can't see the truth...lol
And the greatest of weapons are our boots, in which we crush its skull of the serpant after we have beat it near to death.....hahahahahhah
Like I said "I'm a Madman for God!"
This is my story about being cocky with the devil. I agree we are to be assured of our authority, but take note:
When I got saved, God showed me how all the occult stuff was pure darkness, and being an empath, I can feel darkness and I know the difference between light and dark. Just a few weeks ago I was attacked by a dark spirit. I had on a good praise and worship cd and was praising God in song and all of a sudden a darkness descended on me. It was a mind-blinding spirit. All of a sudden God seemed so far away, I couldn't "see" Him. Well, I rebuked the spirit, rebuked the devil. That didn't work so I just started praising God really loud "I glory in my tribulations, I glory in my tribulations!". That helped but it led to a downward spiral that lasted a week or so. I started getting back into the flesh and was horribly depressed. So, I called my pastor about it. I didn't know what I had done to open the door to such an attack. Well we figured out I had gotten too cocky with the devil. The bible says even the archangel Michael did not say a "railing accusation" to satan but said the Lord rebuke you. Satan is a fallen angel, but he is still an angel of great power and intelligence. He was created the highest angel in the highest order of angels, the cherubs. He was essentially the most glorious, intelligent and beautiful creature ever created before he fell. So anyway, about a week before the attack, satan was coming at me and I said, you really wanna go? Essentially saying, you really want some of this? Well, I had been getting so much victory over him, especially in the area of condemnation which has been on of my biggest struggles in my Christian life. But I got cocky, suddenly I was challenging him, not relying on the power of Jesus. My pastor said that when we rebuke the devil, we must always rebuke him with a humble spirit knowing that it is by Jesus Name that we gain the victory. Well of course I knew that, but I was in the flesh that day and it just came out. He told me to repent about it and I did, and it all went away. I was back on track immediately. I have a great pastor. The same thing had happened to him many years ago so he knew just what to do.
We do have all authority over demonic powers, but be careful not to "rail" against satan. Always rely on the power of Jesus Name.
You bring a good point, sometimes I let the Holy Spirit go to my head and not my heart, and I would go through bouts of pride. And Because God is faithful to His Word, we then know that God resists the proud, and therefore can lift His hand of protection.
But notice God did not allow you to be hurt seriously, I believe God let this experience occur for better teaching. Kinda like telling a child not to put his hand on a hot stove, you can tell him a million times.
But the child only needs to get burned only once and trust me he learns his lesson real quick like! :yes
You gotta love it, Enoch wrote of Michael and called mercy the Angel of mercy and forebearance, and God uses Michael to kick Lucifer from Heaven, and stand up for God's kids.
But in all things repentance is key, and the Lord is faithful to forgive us and voila!!!
Thanks for sharing, I'll work at my own cockiness.
