Steps to Christ

Care to give us any revelation that you believe is true not given in the NT by one claiming to be a prophet post NT?
I shy await from those who claim to do so in the name of using restoration themes. SDA is mistaken.

The just will live by faith is a strong theme in the NT as in a righteousness that is from first to last by faith. Of course I don't believe Luther claimed to be a prophet.

I have also spoken "Prophetically, and never claimed to be a "Prophet". "Prophetic utterances", are simply when a person speaks that which the Holy Spirit sources to their minds. It's one of the recorded Gifts of the Holy Spirit" partially cataloged by Paul in 1 Cor 12.

OF course: "Live by faith" - is a "Strong Biblical theme" - Which the largest "Christian" denomination IN THE WORLD at the time - totally forgot in favor of their "Works Salvation" heresy, which they still proclaim today.

Agreed: God cannot lie. How does a person determine if the prophecy is from God?
If the prophesy is about a future event, the event occurs.
If the prophesy concerns a teaching, it cannot be refuted by scripture.

That's completely Biblical.

If the prophesy concerns a teaching, it cannot be refuted by scripture.

True in the absolute, BUT "Theologians" skilled in the art of "Adjusting Scripture" will always be able to turn "White" into "Black" with their "Reasonings", and "Rationalizations".

If I understand you correctly, Hopeful, I think what you meant was "If a prophecy is from God and concerns a teaching, it cannot be refuted by scripture." In other words, if the prophecy is not consistent with scripture, then it wasn't from God.

That is part of the reason false prophets gain so much traction.
We have to depend on Jesus' words to tell the real from the false prophets.
If their "fruit", even apart from their "prophesy", is sin, they are not of God.

You got it.
Prophesy can be much more than just forecasting future events though.
It can be an understanding of what was written, or done, both in the OT and NT.
Even understanding that OT prophesy concerned NT events would have been prophesy at the time the understanding was delivered.
