[__ Prayer __] storm phobia

I have a bad fear of storms and there are some coming through tonight please pray that God will give me peace and help me keep calm and safe.I get very freaked out at anything above a gentle storm as I have been through some tornados in my past so when a night like tonight comes along its very hard for me to keep calm and keep my mind from leaving me.Im already starting to cry and it hasnt even started to sprinkle yet.Thank you so much.

Praying for you now.

Remember when the disciples were in a boat in a storm and Jesus was just sleeping it off?

Mat 8:23 And when he got into the boat, his disciples followed him.
Mat 8:24 And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves; but he was asleep.
Mat 8:25 And they went and woke him, saying, "Save us, Lord; we are perishing."
Mat 8:26 And he said to them, "Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?" Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.
Mat 8:27 And the men marveled, saying, "What sort of man is this, that even winds and sea obey him?"(ESV)
He will do the same for you. He may not always stop the storm, but have faith in Him and He will keep you safe through it.

Where are you? Are you still in Louisiana? (I'm looking at weather maps...)

I'll be praying for your safety and comfort.

And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:7, ESV)

Right now it looks like the bad part of the storms are heading north of you. Lets see if they stay that way. You're going to be OK. God will care for you.

I sure smile at your genuine concern dear Sister hallowbonnie, and know that our LORD can stand with us and calm the seas of our lives, and be in the fire with us when we're in the fire. You have put your safety in God's hands and He is sufficient for the task, will keep you, and one day present you without spot or wrinkle conformed like unto Jesus. We are safe in the cleft of the Rock from the storms that rage. I pray you feel safe this and all nights in His wonderful love and care for you in Jesus' name. :)

yes just a little windy outside hope it keeps going that way,Im in my closet with a blanket and my laptop its the best way I know to contain myself .I have major panic disorder and when I come across a phobia like this one I usually cry so hard I pass out like last time I passed out in my closet...I have valium that was prescribed for me but I dont like to take it ,i just really hate that feeling that it gives me like I dont have any control.

I tend to like storms we get here, but the kind of storms we get here really aren't too bad. I've traveled over most of the US (delivering RV trailers for people as a business) and got real close to a tornado once. Lots of wind, big funnel cloud in the distance. (I went and hid between to semi trucks in a truck stop for the night.) Found out later just after I went through one town it hit there and killed some people. So I can understand why you would be scared after going through a tornado! But this is a time to just totally give yourself to God and let him care for you in whatever way he sees best for you.

Aren't two sparrows sold for only a penny? But your Father knows when any one of them falls to the ground. Even the hairs on your head are counted. So don't be afraid! You are worth much more than many sparrows. (Jesus, Mathew 10:29-31, CEV)

I was stationed near bossier city and Shreveport. I believe the parish is called Shreveport parrish.

I have to admit that I also love storms. Some of my closest times with God have been standing (sans clothing) out in the wind and rain.... or a hundred feet out in the water on a jetty with 8-10 foot waves crashing. I don't know why, but I just sense God more in the powerful things of nature.

Looks like you got some rain today, but not too terrible. Probably easier to deal with during the day and while at work? I pray tonight is better and you can rest.
