Will is to submit to something that we feel is good and right for us to do even if we do not understand it at the time for the betterment of our life and in this case our eternal life. When we were a child we learned to walk by our parents holding our hand and guiding our steps so we would not fall. We kept trying to walk in spite of falling from time to time until we were walking on our own. This same submission is like our relationship with Christ that even when we stumble and fall he is always there to pick us up and start all over again.
Luke 14:26, 33 If any man come unto me and hate not (hate not means putting your family first before God) his father, mother, wife, children, brethren and sister yes and his own life also he cannot be my disciple. Vs. 33 so likewise whosoever he be of you that forsakes not all that he hath he cannot be my disciple.
Mark 14:36 And he said, Abba Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt.
There was a time in my life that I wanted to be a Pastor and even looked into schooling for this. I knew I wanted to be a servant of God and have my own Church, but in all reality it was something that I wanted, but not what God wanted for me. If I had pursued this adventure, looking back on it now, I do not feel that there would have been very much success out of this as I was stepping out of Gods will for what he did have for me in his timing. Like Jesus in Mark 14:36 who did not want to have to go through what he did for his love for us, even he had to be in Gods perfect will in order to be used effectively by God for his purpose for all mankind.
Matthew 16:24, 25 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me let him deny himself and Take up his cross and follow me. Vs. 25 for whosoever will save his life shall lose it and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
Gods’ ways are not our ways and his thoughts are not our thoughts. The carnal mind can not imagine that of the Spirit of God. God has instructed us to walk worthy of his word so we can bring honor and glory to his name.
The works of the Lord are not just teaching his word behind a pulpit, Matthew 25:35-40, the works of the Lord also include feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, visiting the sick and not turning our backs on those that are in prison. The works of the Lord is the witness of God shared with people that do not know him and this is what it is to surrender to the will of God.
