"Take up" Moment

P

Shalom,

1Jo 3:16 Hereby perceive we the love [of God], because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down [our] lives for the brethren.

Have you ever been tooling along on any road just to have a tortoise cut in front of you? Thoughts like, "If my horn but a gun, I'd ..........." or "I wish I were driving a tank!" run through your mind? They have mine!

What about the person in the store when you really are on the run and you need to run in, get something and get back to it and they stop right in the middle of everything. You can't slip past on either side and as turn to go back around another person with children comes in to the aisle. Oh, yeah! Been there, done that! Could these be considered a "Take up" moment?
Luk 9:23 And he said to [them] all, If any [man] will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

Is it possible that all that Y'SHUA suffered was not all there is to be suffered? We know that all HIS suffering was sufficient to purchase us and redeem us but is there something lacking? Is there more to be done in the way of suffering and if so, why?
Before you jump on that consider this verse and understand that most versions seem to bear out what this version says so succinctly;
Col 1:24 NLT - I am glad when I suffer for you in my body, for I am completing what remains of Christ's sufferings for his body, the church.

When that tortoise pulls in front of you can you suffer for him or the others in your car? When Momma stops in the middle of the aisle with "TOTAL" disregard for anything or anyone but her needs, her self, can you "take up that cross"? Can you complete "what remains of Christ's sufferings for his body, the church"?

1Jo 3:13 Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you.
1Jo 3:14 We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not [his] brother abideth in death.
1Jo 3:15 Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.

1Jo 3:16 Hereby perceive we the love [of God], because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down [our] lives for the brethren.
1Jo 3:17 But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels [of compassion] from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
1Jo 3:18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

The next time you are faced with a moment from the life of Job, what will be your response in CHRIST? Will you "take up" your cross or your old nature? Which "Take up" moment will you embrace? Share and/or demonstrate? Who do you serve?
