I think there is room to join the two religions. They are both based on the idea of worshiping Yahweh (through different names) and they both believe that the old and new testament have historical merit.
They do have the fundamental problem on how to treat Jesus, but I don't know if that is greatly different than the split Mormons took with Jesus. And there are some Christians that just think that Jesus is the Son of Man, but not the biological offspring of God (not many of this type).
In the end, it appears to be YAD (yet another denomination).
