Talking to non believers

What are your cue's when talking to non Christians? Have you ever brought any of them to knowng Jesus (Having faith) Do they change, or stay the same. I only ask that last question because I knew some Christians who didn't seem to be anything but self centered.

But then I have met a few more who are very diffrent from most people, you know the one's who judge you while they do silly things.

You haven't met a Christian that you like then? That sounds pretty sad. There are many people I see that are an inspiration to me. Both Christian and nonchristian. But the Christian one's are sometimes extra inspirational because they've applied bible verses to their life, and have given me something more to live up to and strive for with life and faith.

As for ques, can you rephrase the question? There are ques we see in people in general from intreast and dis-intreast, trustworthiness and caution, to seeing simularities and a potential bond, as well as ques to invoke our sences of wanting to help someone.

Most of these ques are something we learn from experience in life, but a few like recognizing mind games people play, or signs of being abused can be taught to us by others. Unless your asking for specific ques like a social worker looking for signs of a person being abused or being an abuser, in general ques can be anything. One que I see when I'm talking to nonbelievers is a causal manner of disrespect to Christians or to faith in general. They may or may not know I'm Christian, but that que speaks loud and clear that they are not Christian. Or are you asking about something besides ques to recognize who isn't a Christian? If not please rephrase the question.

To my knowledge I haven't convinced anyone to become a Christian. I hope I've encouraged people in their faith, and helped encourage people in their life in general, but who knows the heart of another person to know what our influence has been on them.

From what you say here you sound quite judgmental yourself.
So at least you have that in common with them.
Want to know about Jesus?
Read any and all of the 4 Gospels, they are all about him.
Then ask us questions about what you don't understand.

I have already the the bible cover to cover. Judgmental? Well yeah, sometimes I do.

when I talk to someone who is not a Christian, I go right to Jesus.
He is the center of Christianity.
If they don't want to hear about Jesus, then there's really nothing else to say.

You're kidding me? Your not saying you wont talk with them anymore or get to know them are you? I'd understand if they were causing you grief, you don't want a relationship with someone who'd dump on you.

Anyway I'm sure you'll correct me here.

As Christians we share , spread, tell . what ever the word... the Good News of Christ's death and resurrection .. It is not our responsibility to convince anyone about God, Jesus, Salvation.. what ever the word one wants to use..

Joh_6:44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

There are other subjects people can and will discuss... Food/cooking ... grand kids.. sports.. tech stuff... most often with a Christian a conversation will end up back at His Cross..

Welcome to CFnet.. :wave2

I just wrote a long post using the wrong spelling didn't I? Sorry about that.

In general I look at the same signs when talking to both christians and non christians. If their feathers are getting ruffeled usually I back off. I should be bolder then that and speak about what I know regardless if they show any signs of taking it in or not. In that sense I get what Allen Wynne is saying in post 8. No tricks or methods to share the gospel, just go streight for the subject matter. I get it, but shy away from doing it.

In general the only cues I recoginize between nonchristians and christians are ones that show that they are christian or nonchristian. Usually by what they say.

hi

we can only plant and water seeds in peoples lives until they are ready to make a decision for Jesus

however we must also help to disciple them and provide them with biblical guidelines and information

to help them make the transformation process

but when we hear a Christians conversations or observe there conduct and behavior

what you are actually witnessing is the fruit of the Spirit in there lives

this difference between each one of us is the quality of our fruit

the quality and traits of these 9 fruits of the Spirit is manifested through our conversations and behavior

how we react or respond in situations and how we interact with others

our ethics values and morals are what people see and hear on a daily basis

this is what reinforces peoples perceptions of our claim to be a Christian or Christlike

they will always compare us to the example of Jesus

so only the fruit of the Spirit will hold us blameless and preserve us

Peace

I don't get that thinking, when you do something wrong you go to Jesus and you're absolved by him.

That upsets me to hear that anyone would wish their problems away. What do they actually do themselves to change their own behavior.

What's the point of life if you have someone you think will take all the responsibilities to your actions away.

Hi

ok

Gods message in the bible is we cant save ourselves because we were born with a sinful nature

therefore we are already contaminated and subject to sin sickness and death

eternal punishment is the consequence of adam & eve transgression which is passed on through our genes from parent to child through procreation

Jesus become Gods sacrifice so God punished sin through Jesus and because of Jesus scarfice death and resurrection

we can receive salvation from our sins through excepting the scarfice of Jesus as our pardon to be made right with God

so we can be reconciled and in a personal relationship with God once again

however during that relationship if we re-sin and fall

to prevent us from throwing it all away and condemning ourselves

we have also been given a provision to help restore us back to our right standing before God

and that provision is found in 1John 1.9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

this reason why this provision exist is because we cant earn our salvation or correct our mistakes through our own behavior

we must ask God again to restore us by repenting & confessing our mistakes and asking him to forgive us

the reason why is when we re-sin there is a new record that holds us accountable before God

unless we utilize that provision to correct our mistake we will have to answer to God for it

that's why we repent confess and ask for forgiveness after we have received salvation because the process is the same Jesus saved us from our sin but we maintain our salvation through this provision when we re-sin

Peace

I think if you could get over the concept that Christians should be perfect (I am just assuming that based on your quote above) then it may help you in your quest or whatever it is you are looking for.

I have walked with people who were not Christians and then placed their faith in Jesus.

I walked with a particular person for a while, I was sat with him when he prayed to Jesus.

I would call him a rough diamond but I have seen a man transformed. I had the privilege to baptise him on Easter Sunday.

I have seen people I walk with who seek Jesus walk a little slower than others.

Am I any different from you? Are you any different from me?

We both struggle with stuff, we both want to liked, accepted, do good but I think in terms of life we mess up.

So this is my prayer as such

Pray for a church filled with messy people, which means pray for a church filled with people because we’re all messed up but Jesus is a wonderful Savior.

The Bible encourages us to preach the Good News of Jesus Christ as Jesus had told his disciples to go out and spread the word about him. We are to do the same as followers of Christ as you describe but in your next sentence, you say that it is not our responsibility to convince anyone about God, Jesus, Salvation. This does sound quite contradictory to me.

Good results come from a good amount of time.

When I first met Jesse he was rough. He drank, used drugs, womanized, and laid out from work and school...a lot.
That was 8 years ago. I never preached at him. But he knows exactly where I stand. I keep after my goals of mission projects and being involved with my church. He has fussed at me, called me names, said I was denigrating him and all kinds of stuff. But I treated him always with respect and grace. I asked for him as a tool buddy even though I knew that he only shows up 4 out of 5 days... same as always.

Been there when he lost his child.
Been there when he got fired, got tossed from school, laid off, car wrecked.
Been there when he got divorced.

The whole time I have treated him the same, never once preached at him. I have been consistent.

Yesterday he asked me about how he can be baptized. He used to claim to be Moslem. Says he doesn't want to join a church but that he believes that it's instrumental in his life.
I reminded him of some others in his life that are Christians including a pastor that we both know. But he wants to continue this conversation with me...not really others.

And Jesse is just one of a bunch of guys who make known to me about these life altering decisions. Some of the hardest bitten, crustiest, and nastiest guys in the construction environment... crying like children or with a smile on their faces that would probably make anyone else cringe in fear because of their choice to change.
It doesn't happen a lot. But often enough that it isn't dismissable either.

1-8 years...that's what it takes to really reach and change people. At least it does for me. Your mileage may vary.
