Talking to school kids

I completed a classroom visitation today at the public library.
I had them guess what my job is, they asked me if I'm a nun.
I said yep.
Can you guess my religion?
Anybody can guess, does anybody have a guess as to what religious order of nuns ?
They said that nuns are Catholics.

I said well, not all nuns. Lol
They said wow..
I said I'll tell you what, I'm Episcopalian, an Anglican nun.
The Episcopalians are kind of both Catholic as well as Protestant.

Does anybody know how I actually earn a living?
Can anybody guess?

Well, I'm an advanced practitioner nurse and Phlebotomist at St John's Episcopal Hospital, I also work for the American Red Cross.
That's a nurse who runs the nursing department and a phlebotomist is a kind of doctor who specializes in drawing blood.

Can anybody here guess how old I am?
The answers were funny, they guessed 15, one said 59 the other guessed 12 and one guessed 20.

I said I'm 36 years old.
The average age in the nun part of my career, in any convent, the median age of an Anglican nun can reach 80 to 90 plus and there are less than 3,000 of us nationwide across America.

The median age of an advanced practitioner nurse is in and of itself nearly 50.

This means that at anytime, I can be told that it's time to go home.
So I have been allowed to have my own house and keep most of my income instead of being dependent on church resources that may not be solvent for me.

My work is very much harder than most people's work.

I have more than quadruple the number of vaccines that most people have.
I risk HIV and in fact most STDs via blood.

The fact is that England governed 25% of the world's landmass area, and only Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Gibraltar, the and the Falkland Islands have truly adequate healthcare provided by themselves.

That puts me in much of the continent of Africa and in India, Pakistan and Nepal.

I do also work in chapels and hospitals onboard ships.

They cheered me on.
:P
