I saw on cnn, Should Children be allowed to learn to shoot guns under adult supervision?

No idea if someone has started a thread on this subject already.

If limited to squirrel-shooting or for hunting purposes I may be fine with it. They need to be very careful.

they have to learn to shoot at targets first, we have indoor and outdoor ranges , some private and some public. my fil was 9 years old and killing turtles for food that were half his size with a .22

on this note my church did a gun safety class for the boys a few years back. it was good thing.

So after learning...what next?
I voted yes. Kids should learn to shoot and clean guns and most of all they should learn safety.
Now any kid under 12 should only be allowed 22 caliber and no automatic guns at all.
Later they can move to a larger caliber but not before they can pass a test on small caliber.
After one learns they can hunt or just shoot target.

I gather my tribe together and take over the world.

You answered your own question brother. How do they learn to be careful with a deadly implement. Keeping them away from them doesn't work because little Johnny will pull out his dads 38 when your kids visit his house some day. You can't keep kids in a bubble, whether you like guns or not. There is no safety in ignorance. That's paramount.

Why do you want a nation of squirrel shooting kids? Do you really hate cute little furry squirrels that much? :confused

:biggrin2

Well, they are good with mustard and cheese. Plus, my dog simply love bbq'd squirrel. So it's not about hate, it's about sustenance. Scripture says, go, and have dominion over all the earth.

...and what are they shooting at? target bullseyes of course. Do you realize the competitive spirit in boys and girls? I witnessed it. "The winner today gets a big banana split and the others get ice cream cones..." Do you know the squeals of glee that this produced? Wow! I've a lot of happy times with my kids at the range and in the hunting fields while they were growing up. By the time I trusted them enough to take them hunting, they were safe. The first time we went squirrel hunting, I told them wake me up...uh-uh, I awoke to gunfire, lol! By the time I got out of the tent, they were strolling back into camp with two squirrels chanting, we eat tonight, we eat tonight!

Then they're safe, Then they can feed themselves. Then they have the potential to save mommy when some rapist/thief breaks in and they pop around the corner with a gun. Thank God no one in my family has ever had to shoot anyone, but for those who have, I bet they're glad they taught their kids how to shoot.

Scripture says. Yhwh's Word. Hasn't changed? "have dominion over all the earth" is O.T. , and yes, still in effect(sort of).
had to look up squirrel,
here's what the keepers of the Word, the ones Yhwh entrusted it to, say > (about squirrel) > (and yes, still in effect)
